Star Wars Day And Opening Banter

SPEAKER_04

Okay, let's go. I don't even know what to say. Welcome to Breakfast Day, the show where we talk about anything and everything, especially sports and everything in between. My name is Heath, also known as the Deadhead. With me, I got my good friend Mr. Mayer himself. What is up, my friend?

SPEAKER_00

I'm doing great. It's a Monday. It's uh Star Wars Day. Hey, May the Forest.

SPEAKER_04

I, you know, it's one of my favorite days, and so you know, just to get us started, uh, welcome everybody. Uh, like I said, we are live on TikTok, we are live on uh Twitter, and we are live on YouTube. So thank you for joining us. Um I just tell it the wife is like, you know, tomorrow you're like, what is up with all this Star Wars stuff? I'm like, May the fourth, you know, and she's like, What? I'm like, May the fourth. It's like may May the Force be with you, and she goes, Like, oh like, got it. Enough said, you know, so she had no interest whatsoever in that. Um, she got it, you know what I mean? She she understood the whole thing, but she's like, Yeah, okay, cool, no big deal.

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's funny, Revenge of the Fifth has never taken off for the next day either. May 5th, because May 5th is Cinco de Maya. But that's the whole thing, yeah. It can't, it just can't seem to overtake. Now, I I'm sure there are some serious Star Wars nerd circles where Revenge of the Fifth is uh is is present.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and and and now listen, I'm a fan, you know me. Um, we both are fans of the the franchise Star Wars, right? So like we get it. Like, I mean, we're we're there, you know what I'm saying? We're we're there, yeah. Um, but we're not uh uh to me. No, and to me is you know, it's a taco Tuesday, bro.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, exactly.

Myrtle Beach Food And Cocktail Flights

SPEAKER_04

This week is gonna be taco Tuesday, so I cannot celebrate. Well, we could, you know, I mean we could have uh taco themed uh Star Wars, you know what I mean. There you go. Now you're talking. Hey, now hey, hey, now we're having a conversation, right? Like we're having a conversation now about that. Absolutely. Uh how was your weekend, my friend?

SPEAKER_00

It was really good. We went to um Myrtle Beach with some friends just to get away for the weekend. Uh yeah, no sports or anything. Just uh we went down there Friday, stopped at a place at Merle's Inlet that was recommended by one of Rhonda's clients. Sure, they had um, so she she said, You got to go for the crab nachos. And I'm not a big crab person, yeah. But she's like, they make the the chips out of fried wontons and it's got crab meat and all this stuff on it. Okay, talk to me some more. I was like, okay, that's pretty darn good. Here, I'll show you a picture of it. So we went there, it's called uh the claw house, yeah. And it was um, it was very well worth it. I mean, it the atmosphere is right on the water. We also got some um some crab uh egg rolls.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So check that out.

SPEAKER_04

Oh damn!

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so that crab nachos was zoom in a little bit. There you go. It's got some pico on it with some corn stuff and crab meat. That was so good. So we went that that started the weekend. We ate and drank all weekend long. I got the tacos, they had the uh the shrimp and chorizo that sounds delicious. Tacos. Those were awesome. So anyway, we get there and then um had a few drinks, went and checked in at the uh the condo and um hung out for a little bit, got things together, and then we did uh Chuck's steakhouse that night. Um it's like every meal we planned the next meal.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

So Saturday was uh was we were gonna go to brunch. We picked this place called Johnny D's uh for breakfast for brunch. Um, and that was fantastic. And what's funny, we're sitting there waiting because it was raining, and we sent our friend Bart in to uh get us on the list, and all the rest of us like, yeah, we're gonna sit in the car and uh and just chill out. And I think I sent you guys a picture. I'm sitting there and Ronda goes, oat milkers. I'm like, what oat milkers? This dude and his two kids come walking out, and he's wearing an oat milkers jersey, and the two boys are wearing the hype hens hats. I was like, exciting. That's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_04

That is pretty cool. Uh, I'm on I'm on the hype hens, I'm not on the oat milkers. I've never been on the oat milkers. Um, I know you you don't mind it, you don't care.

SPEAKER_00

I just thought I love the kitschiness of it. I got I got two jerseys, I got a hat. Uh like like I wanted it just for the nostalgic kitschiness of listen, and I get it, I understand that part.

SPEAKER_04

Like, you know, like that's something that you're gonna say, it's like, hey, you know, later on, it's like I'm I got part of history, right? Kind of situation. Yeah, I'm with you. I got it. Yeah, I just don't care, right? You know what I mean? Like it's not my thing. How's that? It's not my not my thing. Uh, there's some things that I like, you know what I mean? Some uh other themes. Uh that's just not me. You know, speaking of themes, let me ask you. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

I was just gonna fit, I'm gonna finish real quick the weekend.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but I also wanted to show you this. They had a street corn omelet. Oh, damn, that was so good. I mean, that was so good. Have you ever had Webb's rancheros? I have.

SPEAKER_04

That's not oh my god, how good is that?

SPEAKER_00

Um, but that was like the setup the drinking because we had to go get some breakfast in us, and uh we went to this distillery that we that was kind of the main focus of the weekend was to go down and take our two of our friends to this distillery that several of us had already been to. They have cocktail flights, and uh they are so cool. Um, there's a picture of Mrs. Mayer with her cocktail flight.

SPEAKER_04

She is loving life from what I can see. Hey, what's up, Phil? How you doing, my friend?

SPEAKER_00

I can the blurries play the Rockies every weekend. Um, so yeah, that's yesterday. Anyway, that's a picture of her flight. She got the uh the the uh fruity-ish, fruity-ish ones. Um, and then I got a flight that had like uh their version of a uh of a bloody Mary. Uh this one uh down here on the growth this number 10, number green one here was kind of a spicy margarita style.

SPEAKER_04

I can see the the uh spiciness of the is that Tahen?

SPEAKER_00

Tahim, yeah, yeah, on the uh on the uh so yeah, we went to so it's 1233 is the name of the distillery. They had uh, and speaking of Star Wars Day, they had a Star Wars themed cocktail called the Asset Baby Yoda. It was Carolina peach, uh vodka, apricot syrup, orange juice, ginger beer. So that was the the what they had on the board. And when it came out, this is what the cocktail looked like. They made it look like baby yoda.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, damn, and it was pretty good.

SPEAKER_00

It's a kind of a dry cocktail, but uh it was really, really good. So a lot of drinking there, um, and then uh some shopping and stuff at the outlets as well. And then yesterday we finished off with brunch at our favorite place, uh Blueberry Grill, before we headed back home. Um, but at the outlets, one of uh where's I put my my new hat.

SPEAKER_04

I see, I I think is that the one that you sent me a picture of?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I was at the uh I was at the uh like a sports fanatic store. They had a bunch of different stuff at that, and they had this retro uh fitted because the even the Pelicans don't sell this, but this is the original Myrtle Beach Pelicans logo.

SPEAKER_04

That's a nice one. I love that logo.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I have a snapback of this that a guy gave me at the Pelicans. I remember you telling me that story. Yeah, yeah. He's a guy that retired from New York City police, and he's like, Here, take this hat. But this was a 59. I mean, it's it's got the new logo on it, so it's you know, it's a custom, current custom.

SPEAKER_04

That's such a sick hat, man. Look at that logo.

SPEAKER_00

So I had to get that one.

SPEAKER_04

I was like, man, of course you did. I mean, I listen, I get it, brother. Yeah, I'm in the I'm in the I've been uh you and me have been going back and forth. I call which hat should I get for those uh Carhartt? Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with the uh Cleveland one. Okay, JJ of uh on Twitter. Uh he was like, You you know, remember your roots, right? Damn, JJ. Like I'm I mean, I kind of was waiting for him to say something. Yeah, I think it was hilarious, and then I saw you like you know chiming in, you know, like you know, no, you're rooting for an island that gets hit by hurricanes. You should go with the hurricanes. Although I should not because uh hurricanes have ruined a lot of my plans.

SPEAKER_00

Very true, very that's true. You you shouldn't get the hurricanes because yeah, you have lit had some trips ruined. But I've I've had there's a quick shot of that the hat. I can't get a focus.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I see that. Oh, I see that. See a pelicans hat right there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they had several different pelicans ones. The crossbones, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

What's that top one but above the pelicans?

SPEAKER_00

They they had this one, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I was just looking at. I was like, I I remember that one. Yeah, that that was one of their logos, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and so yeah, like here's the the old school next to the current one. Such a sick logo, and they had this other one down at the bottom. I think it's one of their alternates as well. I started to get it too with the flying pelican. No, I really like that one too.

SPEAKER_04

That yeah, that's nice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so this store had all kinds of cool shit, cool shit. Like I could have gone broken there. I mean, look, they got a little pink, the pink and teal Mexican.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the Mexico hat. Oh, damn, dude.

SPEAKER_00

That's I hadn't seen that color combination, but that's like a Miami color combination.

SPEAKER_04

That is a sick color right there, homie.

SPEAKER_00

But they had jerseys. I mean, that there's a whole row of soccer jerseys right there in the back.

SPEAKER_04

Did you end up giving that jersey?

SPEAKER_00

Dude, I uh it like Patrick said, I think it's European sizing. I looked at the 2x. I put the 2x on, dude. That like that's like a small or a medium.

SPEAKER_04

You're like that.

SPEAKER_00

And I was like, I feel like a I went up to the I went up to what they had listed as 4X.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I felt like a large. Like I don't know who's who's who 4X is that in that. It's not you, it's not me. I I mean, I don't even know. I don't know who would have worn that 4X. I mean, I think the 4X would have probably fit Darla just fine. That's how tight it was. Damn, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

My wife is 5'1, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so that size was way off. It was like Timu Timu jerseys, which they're jerseys. When I took the 4X out, like I had to peel the sleeve apart, like stuff had been kind of pressed together and all. I'm like, yeah, this is kind of cheaper.

SPEAKER_04

It's best, it's best to leave it there. Got it. Yeah, I mean, it is a fanatic store, right?

SPEAKER_00

It's not fanatics, it's okay. I mean, it's called Sports Fanatics, but uh I don't know who runs that.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say because if it's fanatics, leave that shit there. You know that shit it's not fanatics itself, but it's a chain down there.

SPEAKER_00

They've got because they have three stores. That one's called Sports Fanatics. They got one called Hat Fanatic, yeah. Uh that's at Broadway.

SPEAKER_01

I know what you're talking about, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And um, I actually went over there to get uh the same hat for Patrick because they didn't have his size at the first place I went, but they they have three locations there, and it's just all kinds of hats and churches. The murder beach one that you have, okay. I got you. So uh anyway, good weekend at the beach, good time away from hanging out with all our friends and everything. So we enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_04

I um well, what did I do? Saturday. It was the weather here sucked ass. Okay, so it was like the usually on Saturdays here in Raleigh. We have our our sandlot open. But by the way, I've been making videos and I'm calling myself a professional sandlot baseball player, which I think is hilarious because obviously I'm not, but you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_00

The whole point of sandlot is it's you're not paid, it's not paid. Exactly. But I love that.

SPEAKER_04

I love so I keep I'm I'm I'm playing with it. So and I tell my my friends over here, and they're like, dude, that's hilarious. So I'm going with it, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because I you know I drive for work all the time, like I have to drive everywhere to go work for first. You're a professional driver. I'm a profession. Yeah, when when Rhonda's you know, when I start yelling at somebody on the road and stuff, and she's like, What are you talking about? Like, I'm a professional driver, I know what I'm doing. They don't.

SPEAKER_03

Same, same thing, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I drive so much I consider myself a professional. These guys have no idea what they're doing, right?

SPEAKER_04

Because I'm a territory sales manager, so I drive all over and say it was like I'm a professional driver here. I don't think you understand this, right? So uh so I'm doing the same thing, right? So I'm like, I'm I by the way, I am a professional standalap baseball player. Okay, there's a regional alcohol uh shortage thanks to uh Donnie's weekend. Yeah, what do you think about that?

Rainy Weekend And A Wild Sour Beer

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah, it's part pretty fair. I mean, we hit uh we we got some good beers where where we went. Actually, there was um we were talking the other night too. Uh you know, I told you about the one from Dissolver the other night that was uh the Wendy's one or whatever. Yeah, and somebody mentioned the crab rangoon. I don't know, was that you, Phil, that mentioned the crab rangoon? Maybe somebody on the chat maybe, or somebody mentioned crab rangoon from Dissolver as well was really good. I saw there was a brewery. Well, brewery's a loose term. One of our friends uh said uh well, one of our friends met one of their friends down there Saturday at the distillery, and they're locals, and they're like, You gotta check out this place called uh the Black Drum Brewery. So I looked it up, and it's like 40 beers on tap, and they had that crab rangoon from Dissolver on tap. I was like, Oh, we got to go there. So I I convinced everybody to go there just so I could have one beer. Like I really wanted to try that beer. What was it? Oh my god, it was so, so good.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so there was an alcohol shortage thanks to them.

SPEAKER_00

So that that looks like a glass of juice right there, don't it?

SPEAKER_04

It does look like orange juice.

SPEAKER_00

It that's kind of what it tasted like. It is a um, I'm gonna pull it up here on my untapped while we're talking about it. But I was like, man, I gotta go have that and try it. And it was fantastic. It's a sour. And I like sours. Yep. It had um uh is a smoothie pastry sour, technically, is what it's called. Interesting, and it has if I can get to it to get the description here. Oh, what here? Okay. I'm gonna grab Rangoon hot dog. Um, it's a fruited cheesecake sour. And it has a peach, apricot, pineapple, orange, tangerine, cheesecake, marshmallow, and a bit of lactose to tie it all together. So it's like a a really like tropical fruit smoothie drink. Oh my god, it was so good. I mean, that was just a a nice little fruity drink to have.

SPEAKER_04

There you go.

SPEAKER_00

You know, everybody gets telling me about my IPAs and stuff, but I'm like, I can do a good sour too.

First Impressions Of The Warbirds Park

SPEAKER_04

I like sours, yeah. Speaking of beer, uh, so Saturday I told you that we didn't do much. Like, there was no baseball. It'll say a lot of baseball because it was raining, it was cold, it was in the 50s the whole day. It was in the mid-50s all day, right? There was there was no is or what's about it. So I was like, okay, fine, we're not gonna do anything, so we stay home. Uh the wife did her thing, and then um I was like, all right, I gotta go meet uh one of our friends from uh the minor league community, uh Tom Thrash. So I went you know to go meet him over at Okay, Wilson. I went to Wilson, okay. I went to Wilson, Donnie, okay, to visit the war birds. Okay, so I visit the war birds, okay, and a couple of things, all right. Um, I took my daughter with me. Okay, I took I took the little mini me with me. All right. So um I had I planned out because like I was like, I I was not gonna take her because it was cold, it was all that, right? But she was like, no, no, no, I want to go, I want to go. I was like, all right, but I had planned out because I had bought a brand new toy for um vlogging, so bought a vlogging camera, you know, little it's like about that big, it's pretty cool. I like it. Um I was like, I was gonna go there, I was gonna do some videos, and I was gonna also do some live stream. That went out the window. There was no there was no shot like a doing that because you know how it is with kids, right? Yeah, you have you have some you have a plan uh uh agenda and then it'll go out the window. Yeah, so I apologize. I tried to, but I couldn't do it just because of that. I I did grab a couple of uh shots here, so I'm gonna be doing some editing later on today, and then I'll put that uh later on. But anyway, so I went. I went with an open mind and an open heart. Okay, with an open mind and an open heart. And and before anybody gives me shit, I even went with the with the intention of buying something to support the team, right? Because we're a North Carolina team, I'm all about team North Carolina, so I went to this the stadium to uh support the team. Okay, yeah, all right. You you're with me here, right? Okay, all right. So we get there. Um you can tell the area is developing, right? So they're in the early stages of where Columbia used to be. How's that? Okay, yeah, okay. Where Columbia was when they had the the stadium, yeah. And there's uh there's like a brewery across the street, there's like it's like in like downtown Wilson, but it's like downtown Wilson is like this big, right? Okay, so I was like, okay, no big deal because like I mean that's I I see where they're going with this. All right, yeah. So but I'm driving around and I'm looking at it is that all I see is big buildings. Come to find out that this big building is the stadium.

unknown

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so right away I'm like, there's no character to this, right? There's no character. This looks like a corporate building, right? So I was disappointed with that. That's like first shot. I'm like, okay, strike one.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so they they built it so they had like connected office space and things like that to sort of tie to get the cost. Okay, yeah. So lease space probably helps fund a lot of that.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, which again, yeah, I get no no issue, corporate partners and things like that, corporate partnerships, exactly. Uh multi-use building, all of that. All right, cool. All right, so I'm like, all right, let's go in. So we go in and we see the park, okay. Um, it's it this is a single A ballpark. Uh, let's just put let's go with let's start with that, okay. Single A. You know how many seats you've been to the Zebulon team uh ballpark. You know how many seats were there. Yeah, this is less. Wow, you can tell. Okay, the the seats only go to third base, and there's only a handful of rows, so there's not that many uh people there, okay. So it's like you know, there is a berm on the third base side, it's very small, but this thing is steep as shit. Wow, okay. This thing is steep. So I'm like, right, I'm like, all right, I'm I'm like, work with me here, okay? Work with me here, guys. And drink some water, buddy. Sorry, uh I need some more coffee. Some coffee, there it is. So I was like, okay, so I go in there and I was like, hey, baby girl, listen, let's go get let's go find our seats, okay? Um, because we have I have a friend of mine who's here from out of town that this is the reason why we're married. I'm an hour and 20 and 15 hour 20 away, okay, okay, from from my house, right? So we go meet him, you know. It's like Tom Thrash, great guy, awesome dude, right? We were hung out for a little bit. Uh, and that's like, all right, baby girl, why don't we go to the team store? Tom specifically waited for me to go to the team store, so I guess go to the team store, you know what I mean? Yeah, um, and I I did take a little bit of videos and pictures of that, so I'll be posting that here in a little bit today. Um, we talked about the the design and the logo, right? The W one hat is actually really nice, okay. In person, it looks really nice. Yeah, I tried on the fitted, didn't look right on my hat, on my head. They look, I mean, they're it's like massive, right? So I'm like, uh, because I like the W right oh, right away. I like gravitated towards the W. Yeah, because there's two colors there's the Burgundy, and then there's the um their foul poles are too yellow. Uh no, they're they're fine. Their foul poles were fine. My story's not over, Phil. Hold your horses, hold on. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

So there's the other one's kind of a bluish teal color.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, dude, that blue one is it looks so good. I like that color too.

SPEAKER_00

About the W too. I you know, I can't find anybody that's got a team that's got a DW, but I could do a W for one.

SPEAKER_04

The W get it. That one's good. I like that. Okay. Uh they had the uh they had the W in the 920. Um, they had they didn't have the W in the 47 cleanup. Okay. Uh they had a couple of 3930s.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Uh and they had this new hat. And I don't know if you we talked about this with Patrick earlier yesterday. 1920.

SPEAKER_00

I've seen a couple of those advertised. I haven't I'd like to see one in person.

SPEAKER_04

They look like this hat, right? But there's a little bit more structure to it because there's a little mesh behind the hat, you know, inside. Uh, and it's a snap. Okay, but it's very, very unstructured all the way around, right? Okay, really nice, it fit good. Okay, so I bought one okay with the head logo. Okay, okay, with the bird. Yeah, I bought it. I'm like, all right, I'm doing my part. Yeah, I did my part. Yep. I bought a pin. Okay, right, because we've been talking about like what am I gonna collect? I'm like, I'm not gonna collect any more other shit. I have too much shit, yeah. Right. So I I because I told Darl about my idea about the uh the map.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

I said, Oh, that's cool, right? You just get a poster size map and then just start pinning them. I'm like, yeah, that's right over here. Exactly. So that's what I was like, so that's what I'm gonna do, right? So I haven't bought the map yet. So I bought a pen, but the problem is I wanted the inaugural season pin.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

They didn't have any. Oh man. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

They should have had enough of that to last them all year long. That's if they had them, it should have bought enough.

SPEAKER_04

In my opinion, I agree. Yeah. So Tom bought a really nice snapback 47 hitch. Okay. Yeah. It says it said war birds on it, and then it had a patch on the side that said that gave that had the uh the inaugural season okay uh emblem. Okay, right. So that was a cool one. I was like, and then it was it was creamed with the with the white but baby blue uh around it. It was dude, it was a sick hat. I'm like Tom, that's I like the hat. That's nice. Nice. So you did a good job. I like that. Um there's no local beer that I saw. There's a lot of Miller Light, I'll tell you that.

SPEAKER_00

I get it. A lot of people go to ball games, and a lot. I mean, you know, there's there's breweries that the big the running joke is everybody always walks in what you got that's close to mud light or miller light or whatever. I mean, that that's I mean, that's what sells. It irritates me on Thirsty Thursdays at the Fireflies game where they have like all these discounted Bud Lights and stuff, and they don't have any discount on the craft beer. I'm like, But it sells. It sells, that sells the hell out of people. One of my friends this weekend mentioned they had seen us at uh because I forget where we were at. She saw somebody this weekend drinking just regular Budweiser. She's like, you know, we ran into Donnie and Rhonda at the game last Thursday because she and her husband came out there, not knowing that we were at the game, came out there with his office uh people uh for a group outing. And uh she's like, it amazed me the number of people that were drinking like like straight original Budweiser now. Like that's become a thing now is the but not Bud Light, not Ultra. Everybody's just drinking a straight original Budweiser. Well, they had them for a dollar fifty that night. Oh, yeah, why wouldn't I be on the 50th anniversary of America? Which again, I don't get why you wouldn't sell it for$2.50. That's the whole thing. But we're thinking, yeah, yeah, you and me are right here. But they had them for an extra dollar off of that at$1.50. Yep. I was like, okay, whatever.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. So um, but yeah, listen, I'm putting this on. This is a new ballpark, it's their first year. There's a lot of things that they gotta work through. The food was, I was not impressed with the food at all. Yeah, not impressed. They did have something very cool, they have a self-serf station, okay, right? They have a couple of beers on taps, that was closed. Uh, but it was probably because it was later on, like I think it was like in the seventh inning when I finally went in there to go look because trying to convince and you know, corral my kid, yeah, you know, I gotta go back, but I think I have to go back by myself.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so you could just kind of focus on everything and not have to, you know, help you know, keep track of her and and and uh uh yeah, attend to her and her needs, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. So uh again, I'm gonna probably end up going back, but just by myself, just to give it a a good look. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I I don't have a lot of stuff going on in like parts of June and July. Let's do it. Maybe I can come up there on a Saturday or something, drive up and we'll do a game, a Saturday, a Saturday game, and see how it is on like a Saturday night. Um middle of summer after they've kind of worked some kinks out.

SPEAKER_04

Um I think that's a great idea, right? And we'll and we'll do some content together over there. There you go. Um, there's one thing that I'm disappointed in.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um, is as a dad, there's a section for kids, which is pretty crit. I like that section for kids, right? That was awesome. Here's the thing you built these like planes, right? Like the World War II style planes, right? Right, but they made them out of concrete. Oh, bro, and these things were slipping. And I'm like, baby girl, you gotta be careful. Like you slip it, you dude, you're gonna get a good hit, like you're gonna hit yourself. Like that to me was like that's a no-no. I'm like, come on, dude. Yeah, like let's let's get it, let's get it together here, right? There's a couple of things, and like I said, I'm not impressed right now, but again, I didn't give it a full look. Yeah, okay. Um, so I have to go back. I will, I'm, I'm willing to say that I will go back, give it a shot, see how it goes.

SPEAKER_00

Does it look like they've got it to where they could expand the seating areas in the future or no? See, no, you got to build a stadium for bigger than what you are, yeah. Uh otherwise, I mean, I don't know. I guess money money was probably an issue to start with in that area. To which it's Wilson, right? And I mean, you lured the team there with a new stadium, but if you build a stadium that's just that's like just the size, or maybe even a little smaller, so that it always feels full. No, there was no, you're kind of hurting yourself down the road if it actually becomes successful. Bingo.

SPEAKER_04

Um, so that again, listen, it there was it felt very vanilla to me. Okay. Um, there was, and the way I I put I keep putting it is, and everybody's asking me, even Kelly of uh minor league nerd. I was like, hey, I wasn't, and I forgot to call him back. But it to me, it was a very vanilla team, very vanilla, very vanilla. Okay, like I I was I was not impressed with that part. That's what this the part that was disappointing. Again, I'm putting a caveat that I will go back, right? I will give it a full, you know, look, you know, take some videos, take some shots, and all of that to give you guys a full round down, uh, rundown of the whole team. And then, yeah, let's do it in June. We'll go in June, you and me, and then we'll give it a full, you know, like let's see how it goes. However, I'm not impressed. As of right now, the hot dogs taste like shit. I can't even have a hot dog. Oh man. Okay, the pretzel wasn't, you know. No, although my daughter didn't have any issues with it. Yeah, um I got a bottle of water just so I can share with me, uh, but like I wanted to, you know, oh this is and and Eric feels me on this one. If you have uh an advertising for a ice cream helmet, yeah, and then you say we don't have those yet, why are you even advertising it?

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And don't don't show it, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Okay, and then you're selling it for nine dollars and fifty cents when it's like dipping dots. Yeah, that's that's nuts. I'm like, what in the actual? So I got a lot of issues, but I'm I I like the hat that I got. Yeah, it's 1920. That's a good silhouette of a hat. That's a nice comfort. Dude, it was a comfortable hat.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

All right. So I'll give him that on that one. The merch was okay. Uh, the un you know how I feel about the uniforms. I'm not a fan of the uniforms at all. Uh, not a lot of people are fans of the uniforms, and when I saw them on the field, and I'm like, yeah, it's not working out, right?

SPEAKER_00

And that one that they wore, that was uh well, which one did they wear that night? Because they had the pinstripe one on yesterday in uh Matt.

SPEAKER_04

They wore the Christmas style one.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Yeah, the the the cream and red stripe. Yeah, uh now the ones they wore yesterday that I saw mapping the path post, it was the pinstripe one with the navy centerpiece. I think that's probably one of the the best of the ones they've got.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It did, I mean, again, I'm not looking at it in person, but on the picture, it looks way better than what the red one does for sure.

SPEAKER_04

I it's just the heads are better than than you know what I mean. Um I did ask a couple of my buddies who were we were at the sandlot, and we'll guess we're gonna get to the Brockmeyer here in a minute. Um they uh they said, what is this, a Christmas theme one? Without me saying a word. Right, right.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because I was like, Wait, what'd you guys do? What'd you do? I was like, Oh, I went to with the Warbirds, the new Warbirds. Um, because we're talking about that we're gonna be playing on June 13th, we're gonna be playing at the uh Zebulon team for the dirt, uh the dirt dogs, yeah. Um, and I was like, Yeah, is that Arthane Wilson? I'm like, Yeah, yeah, I just went there. He's like, Oh, is that the ones with the uh Christmas style uh jerseys and stuff? And they're like and the AI generated logo, wow, just like that. Yeah, dude, it's yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, either they're on the same wavelength or you of you, or they've watched your content and knew that was what you thought, or both. Um it's probably just their own opinion.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, yeah, their own opinion because I've not a lot of them really know exactly uh like they know uh what I do right on the side. Uh they know that I I do content and all that, but like they haven't really seen a lot of the content.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they probably wouldn't have gone back and seen that like specifically.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

They'd have to have done a deep dive.

SPEAKER_04

Uh they were very yellow, very yellow. They were perfectly put. Uh they're not high though, like usually they're super high. Yeah, they're not that high, they only go to like certain um stand high. So uh, but they are building it from what I understand, they're building a hotel there, okay, nearby, and then they're putting a um a uh car garage. Okay. Uh, you know, so for parking garage and all that. So I was like, okay, cool.

SPEAKER_00

Hopefully it'll develop. I know things around the the fireflies have super developed the last few years, and that place has become insane with all the stuff they have outside of the ball games. Um, I'm just looking for a set of condos to go up behind left field, which would be perfect. There's there's a lot of stadiums that are doing that, and they've got a perfect spot behind left field and at the Columbia Fireflies to put up a condo with some balconies overlooking the stadium and stuff. Um, I I see that happening in the future at some point because they've built so many other condos on the other side of the stadium. They got a lot of restaurants out there now. They've got uh a new brewery just moved into the uh the the site of the old Iron Hill brewing. Yeah, it kind of bugged me that Iron Hill uh not bugged me, it's just kind of weird to me that Iron Hill opened up a brewery in Columbia. They're out of like Philadelphia.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I won no wonder they failed, right?

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, I mean they had one in Atlanta, they had one in Greenville, one in Columbia, and then everything else they had was in the the Philadelphia, Delaware, New Jersey area. I'm like, why are they expanding into the south? And they had like 14 different brewery locations. But beer and food were great. I don't know, it's just mismanagement, I guess, because they ended up shuttering, I think, everything for right now, and they may re-re uh re-develop it. Yeah, I think they're gonna like get it all straightened out and maybe reopen some. But anyway, three uh three-notched brewing out of Virginia took over that space. Ron and I stopped in there before a game the other night, uh last the week before, and uh beer was good, food's really good. So hopefully they'll make a go of it because it's nice to have a little brewery right outside the ballpark.

SPEAKER_04

We could drink all like we can drink like Donnie then crash at his condo.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. There you go. I'm not opposed to having a condo down there as I as we downsize.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. You know that eventually, right? Um, okay, so that was what we got. I played I played Sandlot yesterday, by the way. Uh, and then a couple of my buddies were like all over 40, and we come up with a new um new Sandlot theme for the 40 and over.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_04

We're working on logo design, we're working on everything, all right. For the the apparel of sandlot baseball for the 40 and over. Stay tuned for that. It's good. We were laughing the whole time. Yeah, okay. It was so good, it was hilarious. We were dying, and so it's coming, it's coming soon.

SPEAKER_00

So, real quick before we get into the the other thing. Um, hurricanes opened up against the Flyers on Saturday.

SPEAKER_04

Put an ass whooping, dude.

SPEAKER_00

They did. What did you think, though, of the the viral um skate beer mug? Loved it. I know that thing is I was like, dude, didn't I didn't I send it to you guys? Yeah, and yeah, I've seen so much in the last two days about it. Like they sold out of it in like no time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it looked like a skate, right? Like it's like a legit skate. You fill it up with beer, and then dude, they sold out of the whole thing.

SPEAKER_00

And I I imagine they're gonna try to get some more for some more games of the playoffs. I hope they are, but yeah, I gotta find somebody that can get me one of those at some point, or maybe they'll just keep doing them and I'll I'll get one eventually if I get up for a game. But damn, that thing looked nice. That was cool.

SPEAKER_04

Speaking of local, did you see the new hat that I sent you guys for the Durham Bulls? Yes, that's the Bull Dragon, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The bull dragon, yeah. That's how sick is that's pretty awesome right there. I like that.

SPEAKER_04

I didn't have any um of the dad hats, but I'm like, I don't know, man. Um a snapback on that one or uh a fitted might be still be not fifty-one dollars, so that's that's the problem. Like, we were just we've been talking about, I think that's been the theme for like the last week or so. Like everybody's been talking about it on Twitter that like dude,$51 for a fitted hat nowadays, that's insanity.

SPEAKER_00

It seems like in the last two years it's gone up about ten dollars.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, dude, like come on, man.

SPEAKER_00

It used to be like$42 for a fitted, and I mean like dad hat was like$20 something dollars.

SPEAKER_04

It was$35.

SPEAKER_00

$39.30 was around$30 something dollars, and a fitted was$42, and now it's like uh gone up almost to$52.

Playoffs Talk And Hat Price Reality

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you're talking about a uh the the cleanup, the 47 cleanup is$35 to$40. Same with the 920s, right? So it's like we're have we have to be very, and I said it, I was like, I have to be very judicious on what hats I get now. Yeah, like I told uh I told uh Patrick, I was like, I think I'm just gonna start waiting until I go to the ballpark to buy the hats. Um it's gonna probably be that I'm gonna miss out on some hats, but like, dude, I can't afford like yeah, I'm the same. I can't keep keep doing that either. And I want to support a lot of these teams, but so do I, but like I can't I can't uh you know support it with 40 hats. It's just and then and they're that hats, then fifty dollar plus on on a because we're not talking about shipping and then we're not talking about tax included. So when by the time it's all said and done, it's sixty-five dollars.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a bit much. No, I'm good. Um, anything else happened around your neck of the woods when it comes to sports, my friend?

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I mean, Clemson took two out of three, but their baseball team is just a disaster. They're we're dumpster fire this year. They took two out of three from Boston Collies this weekend, but we're gonna probably be the 16 seed uh of of the ACC tournament coming up soon. I wouldn't mind getting up to Charlotte to see an ACC tournament game, but I I'm not gonna be I'm probably not gonna work that in. I don't know actually when that starts here in the next couple of weeks, but I got so much else going on with our our upcoming trip and everything. It's like and they're just bad right now. Yeah, they're supposed to play, I think, this coming week, uh maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. They're playing in um in Charlotte. Really? Like a midweek game. I think they got another couple of midweek games before the season ends in Charlotte at the night stadium, but I just I I can't. I've seen three other games this year. Luckily, I saw someone they were playing much better earlier in the year, but right now they're just kind of a dumpster fire. Dude, they had um the uh what was the game here? Let me find it real quick. They were I think it was Saturday. They lost um oh man, I'm thinking of something else here, maybe. You know, yeah. I think I got the wrong score. Oh, it's Friday. Yeah, yesterday. So they uh they won four to three yesterday, um, had some pretty good hits. They lost on Friday. That's what I was thinking of. Um but they just they they they're hitting and not they had so many errors, that was the thing. It's like, oh come on, you're killing me here with all the errors and everything. Uh just sloppy baseball.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I hate sloppy baseball, although I'm as a professional stand up player. That's what we're known for, sloppy baseball. But like you're professionals and you're like uh you're you know, you're supposed to be going up to the majors and the minors and all that, and you're like playing like that. Like that's just wild to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was about it for for around here lately.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, there's not much going on over here. Uh again, Carolina won. Um, you know, stankoven, dude. This kid, this this kid is on fire, bro. Uh he he is on fire. So I by the way, did you see that in the in the Stanley Cup playoffs, all Florida teams have been eliminated?

SPEAKER_00

I you know, I didn't even pay attention about Tampa. Uh yeah, I got eliminated. Yeah. Um, which is kind of crazy because they they've both been so good for so long. Yeah. Uh yeah, I see that now. Canadians beat the lightning two to one yesterday.

SPEAKER_04

So uh Canada beat the lightning, the Avalanche won game one against the wild. Um, so that's it. You know what I mean? Tomorrow, today, you've got the Flyers and Hurricanes game two, and then you got the Ducks against the Golden Knights. How cool is that, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's gonna be a pretty good series right there.

SPEAKER_04

My uh my guardians got their asses handed to them by the athletics yesterday.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the uh Yankees are doing pretty good right now. I can't I can't complain right now. Oh, real quick, so my uh yeah, I was telling you about um my brothers are trying to put together a uh bachelor party trip to New York, and they've solicited out uh to all the groups like eight of us. Uh me, my two brothers, and a bunch of my my brother that's getting married to friends. And so my oldest the oldest brother uh out there, Adrian, sure, uh texted me last night and he's like, uh, do you think you can make 9-11 happen for the Yankee game? I really think that weekend would be amazing for the little guy's bachelor party, 25th anniversary of 9-11 at Yankee Stadium against the Mets. It'll be emotional, powerful, memorable. I was like, Yeah, I think I can make that. He goes, Tickets are still available for Ticketmaster, uh, so we don't have to worry about aftermarket.

SPEAKER_04

There you go.

SPEAKER_00

So we're we're maybe gonna do that weekend and hit the Yankee game on 9-11. We're gonna hit Cooperstown that weekend, and they want to do some gambling. There, my my brother's a poker player, so they're gonna go we'll go to a casino and they're gonna play some poker. I'm gonna watch. I'm not a poker player. That would be a disaster. I'd get in there and they'd be like, dude, what are you doing? You're screwing the cards up, you're messing the routine up. I'm like, I'll just be an observer for when it comes to poker.

SPEAKER_04

Phil, I just got back from a trip and now I have to plan for my next trip. Prispatrick. Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, that that's possibly in my future if he pulls it together to go up there. I think that'd be pretty cool. It'd be be there on 9-11.

SPEAKER_04

I would love to go to Cooperstown.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, still. I've always wanted to go. Uh, yeah, this this is gonna be fantastic to go with my brothers because they are such huge baseball nerds.

Planning Trips For Baseball Memories

SPEAKER_04

Good for you guys. Uh it's fun, it's cool that you have your family that are family that are like all fans of baseball. Like I mean, my family, it's only me and my brother. That's it. Like my other brother could care less, my sister could care less. The only reason why she watches baseball right now is because her son plays uh you know, baseball. Other than that, she is not, she could care less about baseball. My dad, my mom, no.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's kind of the same with me. Uh outside of these two brothers. Uh yeah, my other brother that lives here, he's not a big baseball or sports fan. I mean, he likes it, but it's not like he follows us. No, not at all. Not at all. Uh and my kids, they don't care about sports at all.

SPEAKER_04

No, dude. So obviously everybody knows already that we're the Kerber Mia Media is going to be in Iowa, right? Uh in August. So I told I told Erla, it's like we're going to Iowa just so you know. She goes, like, why?

SPEAKER_00

Because it's got the best corn in the country, right?

SPEAKER_04

Juan is also, you know, you know, Field of Dreams was filmed there. We got some baseball. I was like, I get it. You know, she goes, like, and I and I gave her the out. I was like, listen, you don't have to go, right? Like, I I understand. Like, if you if there's a trip for you to miss, this this is gonna be the one. Right. She's like, no, I'll go. You know, um, so it's just but you know, listen, for us fans, like I've always wanted to go to this to the site of um the movie, yeah, field of dreams. I've already been to the site of Bull Durham, I played in that field, yeah, right. So like I've gotten to live out a dream, yeah. You know, so now it's like that. That's the next one. Like, I want to play catch, have a catch in in the site of uh Field of Dreams. So that'll be kind of cool to see. So absolutely, we'll see if she goes. I think she will. Yeah, she's not gonna be too enthused about it, but my Mia is it's all about it, yeah. Oh yeah, she is like, Yeah, let's go, Daddy. Where are we going?

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. She's she's looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, hell yeah. I'm like, hell yeah, I can't do that. So, all right. So, episode two, Brockmeyer.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man, what an episode. It was not a lot of baseball, it was a lot of uh it was a lot of other just baseball superstition that was based on.

SPEAKER_04

I think that was the theme of that episode. Superstition, and that's what I took out of it, right? Like, you don't mess with the superstition, right? You know, I'm not superstitious, I'm just a little stitchious. Yeah, exactly. And so, and this was the episode for that.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. They uh in fact, it was like uh one of the best parts of it is uh when you're on a losing streak, you change everything, and when you're on a winning streak, you change nothing, nothing. You you stay the course, you stay the course on a win streak, and you do not change anything.

SPEAKER_04

And this was the you know, this was the the the the episode for that. Like obviously, alcohol is heavily involved in this one, right? In this episode, you know, it's just kombucha, like exactly, right?

SPEAKER_00

It's so and my favorite line. I made a couple of notes. Several of my favorite lines from this episode for the record, sambuka tastes better on the way out.

SPEAKER_04

That was at the end of the episode. I was like, uh, and you could hear it.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, yep. And the other part that was funny to me, um, the line that I the but my favorite line was I was helping those ladies find a new life at twenty dollars a time. Yeah, he goes, and the dollar is real strong right now.

SPEAKER_04

That was the thing, like it was mentioned twice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, later, yeah. Later he's talking to the one guy, um uh Jose. Yeah, and he's talking about something, and Jose says, Oh, the dollar's strong right now. Like, I'm like, Oh, they they they have kids they wrapped around to that one. Uh good, that was pretty good.

SPEAKER_04

About his kids, it's like, you know, because he has like what 13 kids, yeah, you know, he's like he's Catholic.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, exactly.

Brockmire Episode Two Streak Madness

SPEAKER_04

He doesn't believe in contraception, right? Oh my god, like the jokes just write themselves in their shows. Like it was just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, you know. Absolutely. Oh my god. And you know, she's talking about like you know, the uh jewels uh talking to Brock Meyer about her uh her contract that he had when she bought the team, right? Yeah, um, and you know, Brock Myers' like, oh I did a couple of uh a couple of uh commercials in the Philippines on Morgan, so I have an idea of what you know what's going on for reverse mortgages, reverse mortgages, right? And he's looking at it, he goes like you have a balloon payment after the first one. And he's like, Well, I you know, I I had I did it for the love, right? You know, right, right. Which I get at the same time, but like you're like, damn, dog. Yep. While while at the same time, there was you know, turtle racing in the background.

SPEAKER_00

No nudging the turtles, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, no nudging the turtles, the turtles.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, turtle racing, that's hilarious. People betting on turtle races in the back of the bar.

SPEAKER_04

That's funny, you know. And they were drinking and they were talking about it, and then he was like, I'm gonna give you one shot, you know, like you better make it. And then he was like, I can't remember what it was, what she what he said, but it was just like snap, let's go. And then they started, you know, how he's like, and then what I got out of it is like he doesn't turn it off.

SPEAKER_00

No, I mean, in the middle of having sex, he's like right, he's like, you know, broadly narrating he's narrating what he's doing as if he's at a ball game and talking and you know, talking about his technique and stuff, and you're baking right up the keister. It's like that fastball thing, that fastball thing makes a good. I'm not gonna go into it. It's too no, no, it's okay.

SPEAKER_04

Go into it because this is a this is a butt plug. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Like, dang, dude. Oh man, that was something else. The the just the I mean, and then out there running the bases, he goes running down first base, butt naked, and she's like uh she says something about you know, oh man, this is one of the reasons men shouldn't run naked. Yeah, grown men shouldn't run away. Grown men shouldn't be running around naked.

SPEAKER_04

Well, was it like you know, she was like she was talking about like her his jungle is like you know, it looks like two balls fighting, two balls fighting. You know, so like I said, this episode to me was superstition, right? You know, because then they started fighting. Uh hey, have a good one. All right, Phil Phil, have a good day, my friend. Uh, go and educate these young minds out there. Yep. Um, and so 18 days left. Congratulations, my friend. So, like, but this episode is like I said, it my theme when I what I took out of it is when I was re-watching it last night is that it's all about the streets, right? Like, you don't break, you know, when you're on a good hot streak, you do not deviate from that. Like, you know, if you wear that jersey, you put on the same jersey, hat, everything, the whole thing. Like, you do exactly what you were doing, right? Yeah, and then we're getting mad with each other and all that stuff. It was like at one point, like he was like the you know, both the both Bruck Meyer and the kid got into it. Uh, there was like a traffic stopping that he had blood over here. It's like, oh, it was from like the donation. Um, I was like, Is that your blood? And I was like, she goes, get out, yeah. Just get out, close the door behind you, and she drops her pants and everything. And it's like, because they they wanted to keep the street going.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they gotta keep the street going, and they hadn't had any sex.

SPEAKER_04

And uh that day it's like we gotta get this in before the game starts. What the pro what hilarious to me is that they kept the mic on.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, absolutely. They're like, What's in the Nash Lanthan that's going on?

SPEAKER_04

You see the guys like this like what uh what the hell is going on, man? Oh my gosh. So that was the that was the whole thing about this one. But they finally got mad at each other, right? They're like, No, we're not gonna do this anymore. She's like, there was like, nope, that's it, we're done. You know what I mean? Legs closed. Then they lose, they got their asses handed to them. But while there was like one strikeout left, Jose asked, Hey, do you want to hang out tonight? And she he and he opens the window, he's like, Well, I got nothing going on tonight, right? Boom, strikeout, yeah, right. Uh, and that's the whole, you know, like you like you're doing this and everything, and you know, with the drugs and all that. Um I think was hilarious, it was like, All right, Jose's not gay. What happens when you know, when I'm inside of a girl, you do what you do gay stuff, like that's not gay. That's not gay, that's not gay. So you do as much as you want, right? It's like okay, Jose. Of all things, it's like, you know, that thing that was like the the the point where Brockwise, like, I gotta get out of here, right?

SPEAKER_00

It's like this is going too far.

SPEAKER_04

Right. And he started developing developing feelings for uh Amanda Pete's uh character, Jules, right? And I think you know, she I was like, I uh you know, like I know how you feel about me and you how I feel about you, blah blah blah. And then she grabs her hand and I put it in her face like this. This is such a a weird episode.

SPEAKER_00

It is because it it it is all focused on the sex and the streak and all of that kind of stuff, and but there's so many funny moments in the middle of all that. It's probably one of the raunchiest episodes, I think. Uh, if I remember right. Again, I'm re-watching, so it's been a while.

SPEAKER_04

It's been a while for me here, too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's like right off the bat, episode two is just all in there.

SPEAKER_04

But I think it it like I said, it it takes it to a whole new level, but it's like the the the level of things that people are willing to do right to keep the streak alive. If you truly do believe that the fact that, like, you know, for example, like you, you know, the two of you are having sex every day, yeah, and this and you and the team is winning, then you keep doing that, right? Like, you just do that until it's yeah, right. And so I was like, I get it.

SPEAKER_00

Well, then it started with her wearing the California prunes t-shirt, yeah. You know, when they were were losing badly, yeah, and it was like it escalated, but you know, she wears that t-shirt, and the kids like, what is it with with you know, baseball and and old clothes? It kind of explains his jacket, but yeah, but you know, she's like, Yeah, but my I wore this shirt with my dad, and we went on a hot streak and this, that, and the other. And he's got you know the sprawny little kids at bat, and he's like, Well, this is you know, pretty much over here. He's he hasn't hit anything, he hasn't done anything, and then he gets a little league in the park home run, yep, and it's like, okay, and then it kind of goes from there. It's like, okay, you got to build on that win, and that's where the whole thing starts that night.

SPEAKER_04

So which by the way, I still believe that the team name, the previous team name was much better than the frackers.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know, I uh that's just my opinion, but did you cut the part the part where like obviously they're making fun? You know, it's obviously this is all satire and all that stuff, right? Like, so it's not like so and Brackmire is pushing the limits on on the old anything and everything that can make fun of, yeah, right. And so, like, did you see like all of the drug uh the drug addicts, you know, like exchanging uh medicine? Yeah, exactly. I was like, I get that, I get it, I get it now, you know. So that was funny.

SPEAKER_00

I thought it was hilarious, you know, and yeah, the the one l little subtle thing that I caught very at the very beginning of the episode when he's talking about there's only like you know a dozen people out here, and um he's like he he like he's like I could talk to them without the microphone, and he's he's he thanks them for coming. Yeah, and there's one guy that just kind of gives him a like all they're showing the crowd, and he's like, you know, I just want to thank you know all you for being out here tonight, supporting the team. And one guy goes, just a little simple nod.

SPEAKER_04

Like it was just a weird guy. It was that the guy that was the knowledge movie uh was that the guy that was uh uh cutting the lawnmower?

SPEAKER_00

No, this guy had the cow like he took the cowboy hat off and then laid down on the bench, but he like was like, Yeah, okay. But the guy the guy that was rebuilding his lawnmower was hilarious because he was still rebuilding his lawnmower like in all the games during the stream.

SPEAKER_04

Throughout the whole game, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, he had the tools lined up on the on the all the parts laid out on two benches there and everything.

SPEAKER_04

It's like wearing the way too short of jean shorts, you know, and then the cutoff uh flannel shirt. I'm like, bro. Um the the ending for me was hilarious. Because obviously, now you you you you you've set up already the first two episodes, you're set up. This is baseball. She bought the team, she's trying to revive the team and all that, right? And who she thought they introduced uh the the bad person, like you know, the the the the the mad the main bad guy in the episode, right? Which was the friend who they dated and all that, and and Brock Myre right off the rip.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't like you. He's like, something about you. It wasn't aura, I forget what the word he was he used, but like you're something about you. Yeah, your vibe, your vibe is nope, nope, I'm not stay away from me, stay away from me, right?

SPEAKER_04

So right off the bat, he knew he saw it, he saw it a mile away, right? He saw it coming a mile away. And she she's like, Yeah, he's the one that helped me put this uh um this uh loan together and everything. And and he goes, Like, that's not a friend, right? You know what I mean? That he didn't do you any favors, pretty much exactly a friend, a friend doesn't give you that kind of contract, exactly. A friend will tell you, no, don't do this, right? Right, and he was working for the bank, which is like you know, conflict of interest at that point, right? Um, so it goes to the end, and then you know, the plan comes out. That's what it was like all right, finally, this is you know, the reason why we're trying to you know make this this go away is because we want to make sure that we build that the the water plant, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right, the wastewater management wastewater thing for the uh fracking, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

For the fracking, exactly. And so they're they are making sure that that team tanks as much as possible so no one goes there, so that she goes on and and claims bankruptcy so that way they can go and buy it on the cheap and then be done.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

We know the plan now, like now we know exactly what's going on, right? So we've set that that that plan going forward, yeah. And the lady drinking uh tequila.

SPEAKER_00

That was so funny. It's like, oh, but on on a lighter note, our retirement of of uh yeah, like you know, she they yeah, that that night in uh um where was their outing, they had it some kind of like yeah, down in Mexico or whatever, and they bring in the the tequila boys or whatever that come in the tequila players, and so we're like the margarita boys.

SPEAKER_04

I think it wasn't the margarita boys, it was the margarita boys, and she's laying on the on the table and then just drinking you know tequila, like they're just dumping tequila in her face. I'm like, like this is like they're they're they're making phone of corporate America at that point, absolutely, yeah. Right, like they're saying this is corporate America right here, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and and listen, you're talking about a takeover, you're talking about like putting somebody out of business, but on a lighter note, man, that time we partied at a corporate outing, yeah, we're gonna celebrate that.

SPEAKER_04

So, and let we've all been part of corporate America, you have been part of corporate America, I've been part of corporate America, like I've worked in there and all that, and like those things do happen. Oh, yeah, like this, there's no it's or buts about it, like it they do happen, yeah. And so I was I think it was hilarious that you know all of that happened. I think it was hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because I've had like I I worked for a guy that uh when he came in, uh Corporation came in and bought the printing company that I worked for, and then they bought the other printing company I'd worked for, and I helped with the merger of all that. And early on, he and I kind of uh bonded a little bit at first, went to a con ACDC concert together. He was a big ACDC fan. We I'd never seen them, so we went to a concert together, and then a couple of years later, he's like, I don't need you anymore. Like, here, here, you know, you if you want to stay here, I'm cutting, I'm getting ready to cut heads, and you can stay here, but you're gonna take a pay cut and this, that, and the other. And then a few years after that, it's like we don't need you anymore. Like, like, how do you get to know somebody, hang out with them, and not? I mean, I know we're not friends, he's my boss, but how do you have a uh a working friendship like that? And then just later it's like uh you do somebody dirty.

SPEAKER_04

I've been part of corporate America, and I've I've like you, I realize this. It's like I'm the I'm a number.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

When it comes to corporate America, I'm a number.

Corporate Takeovers And Getting Laid Off

SPEAKER_00

Because it became it came became evident to me a couple years before uh they got rid of me. They started, like I said, they started cutting heads when they started merging everything together. They started cutting people out to try and simplify it. And um these were you know, I mean, I I looked at it much more relationship-wise to the coworkers and stuff, yeah. And they were horrible with our customers, they didn't care about customer relations or relationships with businesses, it was all bottom line. And I kept seeing them cut management people and other people. And I remember telling Rhonda, like, at some point, I was like, you know, they're gonna have to pay me to leave. They're just gonna have to give me a severance, but I'm not gonna walk out. I wouldn't walk out either. Um, because I really wasn't in a position to do that. I said, they're they're gonna have to just they're gonna have to cut me and pay me for a severance to leave. And then that's what ended up happening. One morning I come in and I'd already seen they had had already let go like three other people, and I was like, What's going on this morning? And they're like, they're cutting some more people. It's always the end of the year, it's always like you know, latter part of the year. This was in August. And um as soon as I saw HR come in, I you know, and I had known Anne Marie, and she's the nicest person in the world, and she she hated it too. But as soon as she started walking over to me, I told somebody, I'm like, Well, I guess it's my turn today. Yep. But in the end, it ended up being one of the better things for me because they ended up closing that plant a year later completely.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so they were just you see, that's the thing, though. Like, I remember there was one time when I was, you know, they they waited all day for me to get laid off. I got laid off. I've been there, I've been in that. Yeah, I'm like, bro, dude, like you y'all are doing people dirty, and then I wanted to punch this dude. Like, I got emotional, but like I wanted to punch the boss because like he had no, he came all the way from Oklahoma and started cutting people, like, and I'm like, mm-hmm. Yeah, I see what you guys are doing.

SPEAKER_00

What got me is the guy I was just talking about, he was there. He was the you know, he was the head of the the the operation at that point, and like I said, we had had a relatively decent friendship throughout his time coming in and taking over. I'd kind of uh helped him show him the ropes with these two companies, and he was down the hall in his office. Hey, he didn't even bother to walk down there and say anything to me. I mean, I get it. If you're gonna cut me and you're you're you're a corporate, you know, a corporate. You make a decision, yeah. You know, you you you have HR and you have the person that works under you that used to do my job, which was operations manager, yep, yep, yep. Come in there and tell me that, you know, well, we're having to make some cuts because of the economy. I'm like, it ain't got a damn thing to do with economy. You don't know how to run a print company. Yeah, you just don't know what you're doing, but you know, we're not gonna do it that he couldn't at least make an appearance and say, hey, you know, I'm sorry we're that this is happening, but no, I just yelled down the hall at him, like you know, almost almost called him a coward, like like Virgil with UC Davis. Like, you're a coward, you can't even come down here and like say anything to me.

SPEAKER_04

And that's that's my my hole, like my that's my issue. Like when you know, just do it, like it's it's fine.

SPEAKER_00

And they're like, Oh, well, you know, HR will pack up your desk and you can come back and pick up your box of stuff. I know I said no. I said, I'm gonna go out there and I'm gonna pack all my stuff up, and everybody that I've a lot of these people I had worked with for 20 years, yeah, like they're gonna see me walk out this door and they're gonna know what's going on because most of them are like, oh shit, if they can cut him, they'll cut anybody, they'll cut anybody, and that's what I did. And Anne Marie's like, she walked out there, and like I said, she's HR. And then most companies they they wouldn't they wouldn't let it. She's like, You just you get everything together, you do what you gotta do, let me know when you're done. And I I I wiped my computer clean. Like, I had personal shit on my computer because it was a laptop for uh work, but yeah, it was still your personal as well. Yeah, I still did personal stuff on it, banking, and I had a lot of things set up, and I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna wipe all this clean, packed up all my stuff in a box, and then people are like, Where are you going? I'm like, it was my day today, it was crazy.

SPEAKER_04

And I and you did it on purpose, right?

SPEAKER_00

I did, I did it on purpose. I was making not really making a scene, but making a uh a statement, a statement by by doing it. Yep, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

And and good for you for doing that, you know, because like they don't give a shit. Nope, they never will. You know, uh, and so at the end of the day, listen, I get it. To me, if I'm gonna lay you off, I'm gonna, I'm gonna come to you, I'm gonna tell you as a man, like listen, dude. Uh I gotta follow the the orders here, yeah. Exactly. So orders are orders, and I I you know I I respect you, I have the utmost respect for you, but this is what I gotta do, and that's okay when you say that and you're like, okay, I got you. Thank you. I appreciate what you did.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, don't disrespect me by not making an appearance, exactly.

SPEAKER_04

And so, yeah. Anyways, guys, we are at the top of the hour. It was a great episode today. I appreciate uh all of you guys. Uh, we are we will be back on Monday. Um, and uh you know our trip is uh slowly but surely coming.

SPEAKER_00

Because there's a conspiracy that we won't make it past episode four.

SPEAKER_04

There is this conspiracy, and I don't I don't agree with this conspiracy, but you know what? It's okay. It's okay, it's okay. So we'll let them we'll let those naysayers be naysayers.
