The Dad Hat Chronicles Podcast
Ed and Donnie have a couple of opinions, and plenty to talk about.
In each episode, we dive into the sports shows and movies we're watching, break down the moments that got us talking, and share our honest takes—whether we agree or completely disagree. Along the way, we catch up on what’s been happening in our own lives, the things keeping us busy, and whatever else happens to come up.
It's part sports discussion, part movie and TV talk, and part catching up with friends. No overly serious analysis—just two co-hosts having a good conversation about the things they enjoy.

Cold Open And Welcome
SPEAKER_01Okay, let's go. I got you. I got you. I knew I would get you.
SPEAKER_00Sound like sound great. Oh, that was good. Oh I'm gonna give you that. That was good. I'll give you that. Look at me. I'm all red now.
SPEAKER_01I know. So I got I got Ed good on that one. Welcome to the show, guys. I uh Ed always gets me when he goes to the intro while I'm in the middle of talking. And while it was giving us the countdown, I said I wanted to talk about something. I said, but I don't want to sound like sour grapes, and that got him.
SPEAKER_00Welcome everybody to the Death Hat Chronicles Podcast Live. My name is Ed. Obviously known as the Death Hat, and with me a good my good friend, uh Mr. Donnie the Mayor Wise. How are you, sir?
SPEAKER_02Doing good, doing good.
SPEAKER_00You got me there, man. Oh, that was good. That was good.
SPEAKER_01So what I did, I'll jump right into it.
SPEAKER_00I didn't want to get sour grapes on this, and I'm not gonna, I'm not have your have your turn at have at the sour grapes. Go ahead, do it. Do
Clemson Miami And Bad Officiating
SPEAKER_00it.
SPEAKER_01No, the thing that got that got me though is I granted, we and by the way, we're talking about Clemson Miami.
SPEAKER_00But I was just gonna say, we're talking about the Miami Clemson game that uh our good friend here, Mr. Mayer, is a fan of the Clemson Tigers, as well as a graduate of Clemson University, Clemson University.
SPEAKER_01That's right. You gotta get the in there.
SPEAKER_00You gotta get the in there, okay? So uh go ahead.
SPEAKER_01So listen, I know we're not a good team this year, but I'm not on the fire dabbo Dabo bandwagon because that's a bunch of crap, too. Um so anyway, the thing is last night, I mean, we had our opportunities. Our our defense to me played we played great defense. Our defense just like got worn out at the end, and we gave up some garbage uh uh scores late in the game because our defense was just worn out. Offense, they had so many opportunities, they just didn't cash in on stupid mistakes. They're a young team, fresh, true freshman quarterback. I don't expect us to be out there. I'm not trying to tout us as some kind of world beater type team, but we had a chance to be more competitive in this game than we were. And it wasn't helped by the garbage ACC refs. And I'm not trying to blame this on the refs, but there's just a couple of specific instances I wanted to point out to anybody that watched the game. Their quarterback came back to throw the ball, and and we hit him and we recovered the ball and ran it in for a score, and they said that it was uh forward pass, incomplete forward pass. They said that he had control of the ball as his arm started to move forward, which was total crap. And and and I do like that the ACC has the live look in of the review booth, the replay booth in Charlotte. Those guys were idiots. There's no way you could tell me that when he went forward, and only two things that are touching the football are his index and middle finger, that he had control of that ball as his hand went forward. It was garbage. I don't care. And I I would hope that somebody from Miami would be like, Yeah, we got away with that one because that was a garbage call. Because the thing that got me worse about it is that later in the game, on a play where our guys had a call against us, they said that we fumbled the ball. Our quarterback fumbled the ball because he didn't have control of it when he hit the ground. He the ball was less out of his hand when his butt hit the ground than it was in the quarterback's hand for Miami when they said he had control of it and was throwing an incomplete pass. It didn't, and and again, those are two specific instances that to me. Sure enough, I'm not saying anything that were garbage, but they were garbage on both sides. They their spotting of the ball, you would watch even for Miami, Miami guy would get go out of out of bounds at a certain line marker, they'd mark him a yard short of that.
SPEAKER_00Sure.
SPEAKER_01They were sometimes they were marking them ahead. They were just they were all around garbage.
SPEAKER_00Inconsistency was inconsistent and garbage. So they were inconsistent, they were consistent at inconsistency, exactly.
SPEAKER_01And again, we you know we that we got outplayed, but I think we have um I think we have a nucleus of a good team. I think we got a great defense, and we got some guys injured that aren't helping either, but everybody deals with injuries, so I'm not limited on that.
SPEAKER_00And you know, to be honest with you, uh Donnie, whatever make you sleep at night that will make you comfortable at Bob.
SPEAKER_01Well, listen, a couple of plays go our way. Uh, I mean, like basically two two plays in the first three quarters.
SPEAKER_00A couple of a couple of half a dozen plays go your way, and you're you're in the game.
SPEAKER_01It's a it's a competitive game for a while. I didn't expect us to win. I hoped we would win. I always try to be optimistic that we have. Hello, Blake. But um hey, what's up, Blake? Hey, what's up, Phil?
SPEAKER_00Uh you do it, yeah, Phil. Uh, that's South Carolina game.
SPEAKER_01We'll get to that. Anyway, that's that's my that's gonna be a good idea.
SPEAKER_00I've seen the ending of that game.
SPEAKER_01If we I'll I'll say this too. And and our schedule is favorable because it's a weak ACC schedule. The teams that we have left to play in the conference should be favorable to us for the most part. And last famous words. You know, I'm again, I'm not calling it, but I'm just saying there's a potential if we go 10 and 2 and our only two losses are to a number 11 LSU to start the season and number four Miami. I'll take that. I'll take that any day.
SPEAKER_00Are you sure you're gonna only have two losses? I'm not saying we will, I'm saying we could.
SPEAKER_01In all honesty, though, if you look at our schedule, I won't even say the Florida State game is probably the toughest game, but Syracuse, maybe, I don't know. They're not that good. Uh I mean we played Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech might be a tough game, but we got them at home. Um, no, but we're talking about Clemson uh Miami game from last night. But we will be talking about the Panthers Lions game too, because we got that on the screen here.
SPEAKER_00I got it out on my phone actually.
SPEAKER_01But um, but anyway, I I think our our remaining conference schedule, and of course South Carolina, sorry Phil, but South Carolina is just hot garbage right now. Um hopefully, hopefully, uh we put some stuff together and uh and get some wins. I mean, we we have an off week coming up, and then we have Charleston Southern, which is one of those teams that you say we should play earlier in the year, so we are. Uh so it's kind of like okay, we got two weeks of practice and a small college game before we get back into conference play. So if we can get some things worked out, get a couple of guys healthy.
SPEAKER_00I want to tell you this if you do not be Georgia Southern, brother.
SPEAKER_01No, it's uh Charleston Southern. Charleston Southern. Yeah, I don't think we should not have a problem with that game.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying. I know, I know. Because you know how this goes. Yep. So um good for you. My team loss, my school loss. It was not pretty. Uh, we were ahead the whole time, and then uh we gave it up at the end, which was awesome. Let me tell you how awesome that felt like you're not wrong
Weekend Football Whiplash And Reactions
SPEAKER_00there. Have you seen the Jets versus the Lions game? And is it is it a day for you? Well, it's a day for everybody. Um, so uh I saw some interesting games. Uh Iowa is a good team. They kept they kept with uh with um with our all the Ohio State, and I was like, holy moly, that was a good game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I like I said, I told you earlier, um, I watched mostly baseball throughout the day, but I kept popping over to catch up some of the scores and just kind of see who was doing what. Um you know, Missouri, they came out of nowhere.
SPEAKER_00Brother, they put a whooping on Florida, man.
SPEAKER_01What the hell happened? But there were a lot of games like the Iowa Ohio State game you're talking about. There are a lot of games that were closer than I expected they would be. I mean, Notre Dame, North Carolina was a lot closer than I thought it was gonna be.
SPEAKER_00Jesus, I was like, what the hell, man?
SPEAKER_01Yep. It was uh it was a strange day yesterday. I mean, there were some some teams that uh that that got blown out that I wasn't surprised or wasn't surprised that got blown out, but then there's a couple I'm like, uh for a while they were close, but then it ended up being blowouts.
Guardians Playoff Frustration And Hope
SPEAKER_00I uh I don't want to talk about football right now. That's fine. You know why I don't want to talk about football? Why is that? Because I watched my team played yesterday, their playoff game. The I as you guys already know, you know, I am a Guardians fan. And my Guardians had plenty of opportunity to win that game last night. Uh yesterday afternoon, actually. That was a good game. I watched that whole game. It was uh it was a game, okay? It wasn't a good game, it was a game, all right? Because the Guardians had two opportunities in the third inning and in the fourth inning where they had bases loaded and could not even score a single run.
SPEAKER_01That's true. I shouldn't say it was a good game because you did have some troubles there.
SPEAKER_00That uh and so I was and and I this was my fear, and I told you guys this. This is my fear about the Guardians coming into the playoffs. One, there were two things that that that made me nervous. One, that they were the seat, the second seed, and so they had the bye week, so they were they got cold, right? That's a full week right there where they didn't play any games. And then the number two thing is, and this is the one that I've been saying it for a while the Chicago White Sox are a scary team.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they are good. They're they're they're I had not watched them all year until I watched them in the first series, and I was like, damn, this team's legit. A Kelly said, like, yeah, they're they're very that's a good team. That's a very good team.
SPEAKER_00Now, am I am I gonna be the optimistic um neurotic uh fan here? Yes, yes, I am. Okay, and I'm still gonna say that Cleveland's gonna win the series. Um, even though the Chicago White Sox own the tiebreaker, right? Even though all of that other stuff. So I'm still got the Guardians moving on. I think that's a good team. They're the teams, um, the the Guardians pitching is much better than Chicago's. At least they're very the bullpen is so you know we only gave up one run, which was well two runs. It was it was a it was a bomb though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh so I was like, okay, I'll give you that. Other than that, it was a you know, it was an okay game. It was a game. All right, it was a game.
SPEAKER_01I mean, from an impartial person as a game, it was a good game because the Guardians did have opportunities they just didn't capitalize on.
SPEAKER_00They didn't capitalize on it.
SPEAKER_01As a fan, it wasn't a good game. Just like the Yankees raised. That was a one-nothing game. But it was a relatively game. But it was a no-hitter. The Yankees had it that were being no hit, you know, for eight innings. So that's not a good game as a Yankees fan. But no, exactly.
SPEAKER_00So you and me, we were both, and then obviously it's Sunday, so you kind of want to get back on a horse and then play again. But unfortunately, our teams are idle tonight, so we have to wait until tomorrow, which is Monday at the time of this recording, right? Yeah, we gotta do that. You know what I mean? And so it's it's it's just like it's it's rough. You know what I mean? So I the good thing that I can still have uh can hold on to is that my Cleveland Browns won on Thursday night football. Did you know that they had the best uh Thursday night football record?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they've they were undefeated going into that game on Thursday night. No, yeah, they were seven. I heard that the other day. I was like, wait a minute, what? Cleveland's seven and oh going into the Thursday night football? Yep.
SPEAKER_00And so Pittsburgh came in and they're they have the worst Thursday night record. Yeah, that's crazy, isn't it? I didn't. I could brother. I was not gonna like right now, we're in time for first place. Uh, is Baltimore and Cleveland right now? Who would have thunk it? Who would have thunk it? Uh, but again, it's only what four games in? So three games, four, yeah, four games in. And so listen, there's plenty of things that that can happen between now and then. So, but uh so far, uh really I clicked on this show to hear the Mike. I'm sorry. We'll talk about it on Wednesday. You should have been here.
SPEAKER_01You should have been here 10 minutes ago when I was ranting about Clint Clemson and the referees and Clemson.
SPEAKER_00Uh he was uh ranting about that. So it wasn't it was an interesting, it was an interesting talk uh from him. So uh but yeah, you know what? Listen, um we're we're in baseball playoff right now, so it was
MLB Playoffs And Hot Teams Cooling
SPEAKER_00interesting. Um, Milwaukee's a good team, dude.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and speaking of um, you know, a team that's that was sitting and waiting, Padres come off of a hot series, and then boom. Right, they run into the brewers who've been sitting there idle, waiting for them. And then today, I actually I thought the Padres were gonna take that game today because they were kind of rolling a little bit from what I was following online, and then out of the out of nowhere at the end of that game, Brewers took it.
SPEAKER_00They did. Um, today they had a walk-off. Yeah, that was an interesting, that was an interesting like and I was like, Oh, Maiton. I was like, Oh, gave that up. Yeah, uh, which is listen, it happens, right? I mean, when you're when you rely heavily on on one pitcher, and then all of a sudden, just it happens, man. Um, it it's just nothing you can do about it either. You know what I mean? Yeah, it just so happens to just boom. So um, so that that's that one. Your Yankees obviously getting shut out. Um can we talk
Yankees Mistakes And Roof Rules
SPEAKER_00about something here? Sure. I gotta talk about one play. Okay, and you think I I think you know what I'm where I'm going with this. Is your Yankees game? Oh, yesterday, yes. Okay. Austin Wells.
SPEAKER_01What is he doing trying to leg it out? Um, I didn't see the play, but I saw the play. It was not a good one. He was in game mile and I was monitoring the baseball off to the side, um, but I wasn't watching the game on the baseball game because I couldn't watch it on my phone. Yeah, but um, yeah, when I saw uh Eric's text, I was like, what did Stanton do? Because he was talking about it wasn't Stanton. I know, which we probably got up. I was like, wait a minute, what did Stanton do? And then I saw it was Austin Wells trying to turn a double into a triple. I was like, Come on, dude. Okay, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Like, and then he got the full he got the stop sign, right? He got the side to just stay at second because that could have turned the whole game around, right? Because now you have a game, you have a exactly you have a you have a runner on second that could have pushed it over, but then you you got greedy, and then you went for third, and this is what happened. And I'm and dude, it was a perfect relay. First of all, it was perfectly put. I mean, that dude Austin Walls was out by a mile, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's uh it's crazy. It's uh you you in those situations, you gotta be smarter once you're in scoring position. You stay there, yeah. You don't need to take that extra base. It's like, what are you doing, man?
SPEAKER_00You don't, right? Because you're in a second, so you get a single, you're in. Yeah, like if you get a long single, you're in there, you know what I mean. And so, like, I I just that like I saw it, and then I saw it the next morning, and I was like, What the hell was that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's to me, uh a decision like that from somebody like him is almost as bad as being the manager, and he he challenges a pitch that's clearly doesn't need to be challenged. Like your catcher, you should know better. Every time I see a catcher challenge something and lose, it's like, and then you should just look at the manager, and the manager just has this blank stare, like, why the fuck are you doing that, man? Yeah, like you should know better because you're back there all the time.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. And you know what, Phil? I think I'm glad you brought this up because I forgot about it. We talked about it, I heard it. Yeah, um and I could be wrong, but I thought that once it hits the the roof of the building, it's a dead ball. Um, I could be wrong. I could be wrong.
SPEAKER_01So I don't know if there's different rules for different places, okay, but I know that um, because this happened the other day, and in Houston. There was a ball hit in Houston that was caught in foul territory, but they claim that it was a foul ball because it hit the girders or the rafters or whatever in Houston, and it diverted it into foul territory um and was caught. So, but they just they they called it a dead ball once it hit the the rafter, that it was just a foul ball. So that's so that's my understanding because it's happened in the actually say that I don't think it was caught, I think it just landed in foul territory. There's like it's a foul ball, but this one it hit the thing and the guy caught it and they called it an ounce. I don't know if it's a local, like a you know, you know, each stadium has its own local rule, maybe about the the rafters, or the fact that they've probably not had one hit that high that hit it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00And listen, it I l I could be wrong, and and so like because I thought I've seen it at the drop, right, where the race play and everything.
SPEAKER_01And I think it's a dead ball if it hits the the gangway, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. So like I and that's what my understanding, and I mean I'm only basing it on that one, right? Because obviously we have a lot of other stadiums in the in in Major League Baseball that like that have roofs. So like I I would understand that at the very least that would be universal across all ballparks, right? But but I'm you know what I mean. But baseball, the the way that baseball is, right? The dimensions in the outfield are all different in Major League Baseball. So that could also be one of those rules that are different, uh, case by case, and you know, stadium by stadium. So I I could be off again.
SPEAKER_01So I was looking to see if there's actually a roof, specific roof rule for Phil.
SPEAKER_00That's a good one. That's an out edited bananas game. Oh, yeah. I like that. I appreciate you saying that. Uh hello, Natalie. Uh, welcome to the show, uh, the Hat I Chronicle Sports Show. Where we talk about uh sports, and then in here in a little bit, we are going to be talking about season two, episode six. Six. That's right. Uh it was it was an episode. Uh Snell didn't look at wow, what a catch.
Panthers Game Talk And Fantasy Check
SPEAKER_00McMillan just got you a touch now. So uh there you go. Hey man, Carolina looks good, dude.
SPEAKER_01Let's see how you're gonna do that. I yeah, I just saw the replay on I wasn't looking up whenever it first happened, and I saw you say something, and I was like, okay. Jeez, let's see how much gain uh ground I'm gaining on Patrick, if any.
SPEAKER_00I doubt that you gain any.
SPEAKER_01Oh, he might not be wrong. Really? I'm only five points behind now. McMillan's got me 23. Bryce Young's only gotten him ten, so I might be getting two to one on him. Interesting. Okay. Oh my god. Patrick just next to me. We have a fantasy football game.
SPEAKER_00They missed him, he missed an extra point. You going to bed, kiddo?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're loud.
SPEAKER_00Okay, thank you. Hi, Mia. There you go. All right, Keller. I love you.
SPEAKER_01Have a good night, day.
SPEAKER_00I'll see you in the morning, okay? Love you, kiddo.
SPEAKER_01Have a good 19 second subscribe to the front here, friendly friends. Bye.
SPEAKER_00Bye. Bye, kiddo. Um, anyways.
SPEAKER_01Uh so I was trying to look up, let me see if I can find it here.
SPEAKER_00Um, close the door, kiddo.
SPEAKER_01Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_00I cannot wait for people to hear this podcast episode. Right. And this the hero's like, hey, close the door, kid.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Let's see what it says. Um, while you're you're you're going on about something. Let me see something here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I so he technically right now, while we're we're we're talking about uh the game at Milwaukee last night where the batter hit the the rafters and uh Milwaukee caught it. I think they caught it for an out, and the umpires called it and out. So my understanding is that once you once it hits the rafter, it's a dead ball. That's it, it's done.
SPEAKER_01So the the actual rule in Milwaukee, their stadium's local ground rules are a batted ball striking the roof, roof truss, or roof cable over fair territory is considered in play. There you go. Okay, so as long as it's in fair territory, if it goes, if it's going foul and it hits the roof and comes back into fair territory, and I think that's what happened in Houston. Maybe that's what I was thinking of in Houston. It hit the rafters in the foul territory, came back into fair territory, and they said nope, it was a it was a dead ball because it was in foul territory.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well then I I stand corrected. I'm okay with it then. If that's the rule, and the then the players at that point should have known better.
SPEAKER_01Then I doubt they have it come up very often. I mean, I can't remember in Milwaukee this ever coming up. It's the same. You know, when we were there, I said those those gangways that go around, they look like they're about 20 or 30 feet too low. Like everything should be above the concrete level with the actual roof roof. And they're not, they're like 20 feet below that. It makes no sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I that was. That was my thing because I because we were at the job and we were both talking, having that conversation about it. We're like, man, these are these are kind of low. And then it was taken away from the the scoreboard at the back because it was like you all you saw is the core scoreboard and then right across it. You saw that the rails right through them. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01So I mean when you replaced the roof, you should have just taken all of that stuff and moved it.
SPEAKER_00And lifted it. Yeah. You had the chance. There you go. Um, interesting. I like that. Uh by the way, uh, the Carolina Panthers, uh, right now, at the time of this recording, right? McMillan getting you some good points. Uh Bryce Young looking uh pretty good right now. They're playing at here at uh in Charlotte. Well, not here because I'm not in Charlotte. In between Raleigh.
SPEAKER_01I mean in between, like literally, they're literally literally between the two of us in Charlotte.
SPEAKER_00Legit, because it's like, you know, how how much of a drive is it for you? Hour and a half to the stadium. Yeah, so it's like about two hours for me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Two, two and a half.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So that ain't bad. I'll take it.
SPEAKER_01So this is one of those games I wish I could have maybe gone to when I looked at the schedule and said, hey, I could do a game, I could do a Sunday night game. That would this would have been a fun one to go to. The one season in 2012 that I got season tickets, we had one night game. It was a Thursday night game. So Thursday night football was there against the Giants, and that was when Eli Manning was still playing. That was a fun night there, man. Except for the drunk guys that got in a fight. Uh one, one dude almost got knocked out of the upper deck. He got punched and went like four rows. Damn. He came within a row or two of going off the front edge of the the upper deck because some Giants fan just started smacking, and this this Panthers fan had had enough and just he hit him so hard he knocked him four rows down. Jesus. I was like, this is crazy, man. I saw some good fights at that game, and I saw some good fights at the Seahawks game, which was actually a cold as hell game.
SPEAKER_00You can say fuck. It's okay. It's I'm I'll say it. It's cold as Rhonda was at that game with me.
SPEAKER_01We were bundled up under a blanket, skull caps, everything, and people were drinking so much beer to try and stay warm. Yeah, that's what behind us. They got into a huge fight.
SPEAKER_00Why do you think people in Cleveland don't care? It's like they're so drunk because it's so cold.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Charlotte's not used to that kind of cold too much. That's true. That was a super cold spell that came through. That that game wasn't even in December. I think it was in October. It was out like around this time of year, maybe a little bit. It is perfect weather right now.
SPEAKER_00In Charlotte right now, it's like in the 60s. Yeah, this is a perfect ball. I was wearing the uh Midwestern uniform today. I don't I don't know if anybody knows what the Midwestern uniform is. Uh that is uh shorts and a hoodie. I was uh I was very happy with the shorts. Man, this defense for uh Charlotte, dude. Holy moly, they are getting through to uh past the offensive line on the other lions, man. I don't know what's going on with them. They're shooting the gaps there on these guys. They are, dude. I can't look at that. That's just insanity. So uh, all right, so what we are here for, my friend.
Brockmire Episode Setup And Shock
SPEAKER_00This is uh episode six, season two of Brockmeyer. Uh, it's called the Broadcaster's Jinx. That's the name of the episode. And so, can I be completely 100% honest with you? Yep. When I first started what watching the episode, I'm like, dude, this this episode sucks.
SPEAKER_01It does start off kind of slow compared to most. Compared to most. Although, although the him going around and giving the double bird to everybody, everybody looks good.
SPEAKER_00And of course, talking about the the waitress, and you know, um, we won't say it on this one, but it was you should watch it. Uh, anyways, I thought at first it was like, what the what the fuck is this? Right. And I was like, what the fuck is this bullshit?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and went off the rails in an interesting way. I personally did not think that they would tackle such a loaded topic for an episode.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and it because of not because of the because of the topic, but because of the nature of the show, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, if you think back to this episode would have aired in 2017, I think. And yeah, it was kind of crazy back then, too.
SPEAKER_00So it was. And and so for those of you who don't know, so I'm gonna give you a quick synopsis of this uh episode so that way you guys can catch up. Uh, I highly recommend that you guys go back to all of our episodes that we've done on the Brockmeyer uh season so far. We've recorded them, they're on the Dad High Chronicles podcast, and so um it so that way you can follow along. So here's episode uh two for the second season. And it says Jim gets an opportunity to announce Major League Baseball in Atlanta while Charles considers where his own career could go next. But Jim's return to the big leagues become complicated when he learns an uncomfortable truth about a legendary announcer. His attempt to handle the situation puts his judgment and his unusual chaotic approach under the spotlight. And as as as someone who was not born here in the US, right? Uh someone was born in Puerto Rico, I was like, wow. Because I've been on the on the receiving end of comments, you know, that have been made, uh, that have been very racially right uh um charged.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well it's so funny because you know the thing that got me is I I didn't I didn't see that, I didn't remember that from before. And it's funny when you see Hank Azaria's face as Brackmeier, when he's just like spouting off this story about Charles. And um at first when he says his people, and I'm like, Did he just say his people? Yeah, I like the people. And the other guy goes, Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he goes, he says millennials. I'm like, oh, okay. And and the other because uh the guy with him said, uh the cut, yeah, the colored. And he's like, no, the millennials. He's like, wait a minute, did you just say like I hadn't heard that term in forever? Yeah, we're on two different pages here, but it's funny because Jim opened the door talking about them, you know, his people as millennials, yeah, and wasn't even going racially.
SPEAKER_00He wasn't even, yeah, because obviously with with Bruckmeyer, he never he never really thought about anything like that ever.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. And this and you know, this guy, you kind of I mean, I've watched it before, so I kind of thought this was where this was going once you meet him. Because I actually thought um the first scene where they meet him in the tunnel when they when he first gets there, there was something in my my my mind thinking he said something then that they picked up on, but but it didn't happen then. No, but I was thinking when I was watching it, I'm like, oh, here it comes right here. And I think the part I was thinking about was this part in the booth. I just mistakenly thought it was coming up right there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but and it was it was in between innings, right? So they know what it was hearing it, and it's just like I was like, Oh my god, like I was like, I'll be honest with like I was watching uh I will watch it and I was doing laundry and everything, and I was watching, and then all of a sudden I'm like, oh right, like I stopped everything and I just watched it the whole the rest of the way. I'm like, oh my god, I can't believe they I can't believe they fucking said you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then when he said colored and the guy uh Hank Azaria's character is just like I'm sorry, I didn't hear you, I didn't hear you. Can you repeat this again? Like, did you just say what I thought you said? It's like you could tell it put him back a little bit. As as crazy as Brockmeier is, that stopped him in his tracks.
SPEAKER_00Of all the things that have that Brockmeier has said, has done, has heard, has experienced. This is the one that was like, hold on a second. Yeah, and I think it was because it had to deal with Charles. Right.
SPEAKER_01Well, like he said, Charles is the most honest person I've ever met in my life, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he thinks of it as family, right?
SPEAKER_01And it was just, yeah, that that really uh that threw him for a loop there that uh that this guy went there with it. And you could tell right then it was like, hmm, I need a minute minute to think about this. I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_00Let me process this, right? Yeah, and so he goes out and then he's talking to the lady, right? Like the one that has been running the HR department who's been trying to run all of this to get all this going and everything. And it's like the big secret that that everybody knew. Yeah, he was like, Do you know he's raising races? And she goes, like, oh yeah, that's why we were pushing for this.
SPEAKER_01That's why we're trying to get him out of here.
SPEAKER_00So, and I think finally at that point, Brock Meyer is confronted with the holy shit, I wasn't the best option.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Yeah, because Raj would have got the job, but this guy wasn't gonna let that happen. Yeah, because you remember when he found out, she even said, Um, you weren't my choice, but they made it they they overrode my decision. And now you find out why who it was and why they overrode her decision on Raj. So yeah, that and that and that's what's funny about Jim is as much as he wants this, he wants it the right way. He doesn't want it the way he he's like like that offended him. He's offended that he was actually beat Raj out that he was basically chosen because he's an old white guy.
SPEAKER_00Well, and that but right, exactly. And then think about it, right? Because he like he gave the double bird to Raj in the locker room, yeah, thinking that he had bested him when in reality it was Raj who bested him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00But he was not picked because of this the color of his skin.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00I it was like, holy shit, right? And you're sitting there and you're watching this, and the guy's just like, oh yeah, uh, yeah, yeah, like you know, uh and and then he was he was using and it's happened to me because it's been done to me. He was using it's like, well, this is the way that was been that it's been done. Yeah, I was like, this is uh you know, I'm an old school guy, right? And I'm like, hold on a second, brother. Like, right, and so like this one, this one kind of hit me a little bit different, right? Yeah, because as as he was saying these things, and he was, you know, like I'm like, and and I'm sending them like, oh, this sounds familiar. This sounds a little familiar, yeah. And so I was like, Oh fuck, like they they went all in there for all in for this one, and I applaud them for tackling this.
Fame History And Accountability Debates
SPEAKER_01Well, and it's it's one of those things that we've talked about with things like the hall of fame and people that are in the hall of fame, yep, people that are not getting in the hall of fame for certain things when there are people that are in the hall of fame now that were probably like this very racist type people, very, very, very much in a lot of ways bad.
SPEAKER_00100%.
SPEAKER_01And um, and then you got somebody that that had a great playing career but made a bad decision, and they're not getting in when what they did is maybe not as bad as these other people that are already in. And you can't rewrite history, you can't undo history, you can't no, you gotta tell the full story, right? And that's and that's my that's always been my argument with any Hall of Fame, whether it's football, baseball, basketball, baseball in particular, it's a museum of history. It's not it's not the hall of building, it's not a building of uh do-gooders and and and the perfect people. Um so you know, whether you like it or not, these other people are famous people, they're famous for their play, and they're probably famous for some of their other things. And it's the hall of famous people. So you put in the people if you can't tell the story of baseball without these people, good or bad, they deserve to be in there, and the whole story needs to be told. You can have an exit, you can we've been there. You've you can go go in there or several of us been been to the museum, and you you can have an ex they have so many different exhibits. You can have an exhibits area of the the the steroid era, and you could tell the whole story of these players and the whole steroid era, but beyond that, they were still great ball players, they still did great things, and they did most of what they did before steroids became a thing. Yeah, and as we keep saying, steroids didn't necessarily help them do anything better, it might have prolonged you know their career their career a little bit, it might have uh helped recovery of certain things, but a guy that can hit a 95, 98 mile an hour fastball for a home run did it before steroids can do it after steroids, it's not any different. He's not hitting it any further. Uh, he's not hitting more of them just because of steroids. So yeah. Anyway, it was but this shows you that that that that subject is also part of what's in this museum and maybe hasn't been told from that standpoint.
SPEAKER_00And I think it also it's very indicative of like, you know, they're hitting the the point where it's like there was a lot of people that was like, oh, they're they were very old school, right? Like, I mean, they hide behind the oh, it's it's I'm I'm you know, I'm I'm old school, you know what I mean? And the because they're in such a position of power that they are able to say and do things and get away with it because of their position, right? And so um I I and the way they tackled it was very interesting because it was like, oh yeah, we knew. Yeah. Why do you think we were trying to push this as quick as possible? We wanted him out of there, right?
SPEAKER_01But they didn't want to out him either. They wanted it, they wanted him out of the way, but they didn't want to, and that that goes back to the whole thing about um some of the stuff in the past. Is yeah, we we wanted him out, we knew this was a problem, but we weren't going to be the ones to tell that tale to the public.
SPEAKER_00Like we weren't which bothers me, right? Because that bothers me.
SPEAKER_01Right. Because in this day and age, we're used to, well, you you know, he he should have been, you should have just been like, uh, he's no longer our broadcaster because he's racist.
SPEAKER_00He's a racist piece of shit.
SPEAKER_01Right. And and I don't know if you picked up on this, but I did pick up on this one comment from from Brotmeyer because because uh the other announcer kept saying several times that he wanted a true, like a real baseball person, like a true baseball guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you could kind of read between the lines what he meant. Oh, yeah. And at one point, Bratmeyer says, uh, so you're a purist, aren't you? And I don't know if you got that. Yeah, but I took that as that was his jab at him, like, oh, so you're a purist, like you want the game to be pure. You as in as in white. Yeah. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I picked up on this, and and it's uh again, I uh I it's very interesting to see Brockmeyer um tackle this, right? Because, you know, he is also a middle-aged white male going against a a another white male on on the on fighting about racism and and then what's right and wrong. And it was very interesting because he was he was attacking his own friend, uh, a family member that he thinks of as a family play, uh member in Charles, right? And so, because he gets Charles gets accused of stealing the wallet, which it never happened, right? Like, I mean, obviously we know that like the wallet was there all along, but he was accusing him because he was black, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's the the only reason he accused him, he was the only one that was in here that was black, and he was the one that lost it, yeah. And it was right there underneath his scorebook the whole time.
SPEAKER_00So it's and I was like, holy shit, because that's happened to me in the workplace before,
Personal Stories Of Workplace Bias
SPEAKER_00right? It's oh oh, I've been yeah, I've been I I've I've been told things in the workplace before, you know, many times recently too. 2020, we're in 2026, dude. And and it's happened to me. And if you look at me, guys, and if you're watching live and if you're watching on YouTube later on, dude, you look at me and I don't see a word, I look like your typical white male. I do, I know this, right? Obviously, in Puerto Rico we come many shapes and sizes, different colors, right? And but when people find out where I'm from, the comments come, yeah. And and it's happened to me. And sometimes you know, you are at work, and and because you have to work and because you have to keep it professional, there are days where like I cannot say anything. Yeah, and when it comes from your own co-workers, it's even worse.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. I mean, it's like you just like I mean, I I can't imagine because I'm not on that side of it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I can I I can imagine that it would bother me to the point where I would want to like just do something about it, but you can't. You well, you can't do the thing, like you want to go over and punch them, I guess, but you can't just go over and punch them as well. Taking every bit of my my right body to make the whole thing worse for for everything, but there's got to be some way to uh right.
SPEAKER_00Because and listen, there is no right or wrong way of doing things, right? I I mean the reason why, you know, and I I approached it and I and I said something about it and everything, but at the same time, I was like, I have to think about like, man, I got a family, I got a mortgage to pay, I got things to do, you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, my family, you know, and and those things come up, right? So you have a moral obligation to like to think about these things, and so like, but yeah, it recently it just happened recently.
SPEAKER_01Well, and that goes to the
Charles’s Strategy For Surviving Racism
SPEAKER_01the ending of this episode or the latter part right before the ending of this episode when he comes back to New Orleans and he walks into the apartment because he pretty much blew his opportunity to become a broadcaster, you know, at that up to that point.
SPEAKER_00At least that's what he's thinking, right?
SPEAKER_01That's what he's thinking, and he comes back, and Charles has got his whole group of people in there that's working on the podcast and his media group that he's put together that Bratmeyer has no idea about. And he starts telling them about this whole situation. And Charles is like, if I had been there, I would have told you not to do that. And he's like, I deal with this every day, like you just said, every day. I dealt with this every day when I get up, and it's just part of I've learned how to deal with it. Yeah, and and it's it's it's sad that he is taking it that way or dealing with it that way, that he has to deal with it that way. But to your point, he has determined that the only way he's gonna get where he wants to go is not to rock his own world by engaging in something that could disrupt what he's trying to build.
SPEAKER_00Think about it. He could be saying it's like, oh, that's just another angry black man, or uh, that's Ed, doesn't you know he's always angry, he's always fighting, he's always claiming, you know what I mean? So it's like uh there's things that are gonna be said when you're like, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, not doing something actively about it isn't ignoring it either. You're like he said, you're you're you have to learn to deal with it, and you have to figure out when and where to take action and when and where not to take action. Because, like you said, you've got bills to pay, you got things that you can't just like boldly go in there and disrupt the world because somebody's an idiot. But now that you know that that person's an idiot, then you know where you stand with that person and you can work around that. And eventually that stuff catches up to a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00Like, I was just gonna say, man, Karma's a bitch, bro. I'll say that. And then number two, you know what I mean? Like now I know, you know what I mean? Now I know the type of person that you are, and I know I am no longer associating myself with you. Exactly. Like, I'll I'll talk to you, but I we will no longer be in the same level of of respect because of the things that you have just said, because you believe in those things, exactly.
SPEAKER_01And you know, like, right, exactly. You know the ground you you have with them, where you stand, and and like you said, as things come up going forward work-wise, um, rather than just blow it up and make a big deal out of it, and maybe maybe it blows back on you that it then it's that it shouldn't, but you never know what's gonna go where. You just know where that person stands, and eventually you're right, the something comes up and and it'll it'll it'll bite them.
SPEAKER_00Be uh exactly because obviously I wasn't the only one that saw this. Well, obviously it's the one that Experienced it, but there were other people that saw it. So now you've painted yourself as someone that can no longer one be trusted and two cannot hold a pro a position of leadership in a company because of the way that you're thinking. True. You know what I'm saying? And so and I, you know, a lot of people say, Well, Ed, you should have said something. Yeah, you know, I did. Right? And and Charles chose to say, no, I don't want you to say anything, I don't want you to defend me. Okay. Let me do my own thing, I'll deal with it.
SPEAKER_01Right, exactly. Let let let me handle it the way I want to handle it.
SPEAKER_00So it was very interesting. That's it. And you know, I I watched it twice. The episode, you know, because I had to go back again. And I was like, I like, did I hear this? You know, like and like I I am still like I've seen this because like the episodes without, you know, obviously we're watching it later, many years later, but like it was only like a half hour long, but it was such a powerful, um, they they put it such a powerful message, right? Yeah, um, and so with some comedy thrown in there at the same time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like when when Brotmeyer's standing there and he's in the room in the you know with with Charles and all the people, and he's like, you know, this is my media group, and we're doing podcasts by people of color for people of color. Yeah, and then I was like, What about that guy? And they go over to the they show the one white dude that's working in there, and he's like, Oh, him, he's cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like him. He's just he's just cool, right? And then he finds out that Brugmeier finds out that he that he's had a girlfriend this whole time, right?
SPEAKER_02He was like, he calls her Yoko. Yoko.
SPEAKER_00You know, she was like, but she was more like a you know, musical genius. You're you're not.
SPEAKER_01Well, that and that goes back to like again musical savant. Right. But you know, two episodes ago with the Jules situation and the fact that Jules we talked about Jules and Charles have kept up with each other, and Jules asked how the thing was going on with a girlfriend that Brotmeyer didn't know about. Now you get to see the girlfriend that Brotmeyer didn't know about and still hasn't known about uh this whole time. And like, and even Brotmeyer says, Well, you know, these people need to get out of my apartment. He's like, uh, I own this place. Like Charles has Charles has managed everything for Brotmeyer and has bought everything, and everything's in his name, and Jim doesn't realize that. He's just now starting to realize that that you know, he's just uh like Charles has been sort of carrying him along this whole time, too.
SPEAKER_00Did you notice the the piece where Charles said, you know, because Braggmeyer had this understanding, and it was because of Braggmeyer, that's where he's at, because of Braggmeyer. But then Charles is like, if it wasn't for me, you would still be in in uh Morristown. Exactly. And Braggmeier says, You're right, you're right, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, he's the whole reason that he got out of there and got the opportunities that he got with the podcast with New Orleans and and so forth and so on.
SPEAKER_00And so this oh that was like that was like holy, like he actually admitted to you know, saying that like it wasn't because of him, it was because of Charles that he's at where he's at with like the the podcast being so popular, and you know, him trying to get the opportunity to go and get the job in and in in Atlanta and all this stuff, right? So it's like he's finally like his he's still a dick, right? He's still an asshole. Uh but like of all of the people that has come through uh Brockmeyer's life, the one concept is has been Charles. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, and the thing is, Brockmeyer always again, back to the whole thing about his chaos, outside of uh of his own chaos, he still like he still respects people for for the right reasons. Like he respects Charles for what he's done. Even with the the the HR girl, you know, after the whole thing, and you know, he's finally like, all right, just you know, give me two of your best shots because she came at him with the bat, wanted to hit him, and you know, thought he was drinking on the show and all that, and like he blew up the whole thing. And he's like, Okay, well, you know, I owe it to you to let you hit me. And she whacks him with the bat. But um, he's like, you know, he's at least he owns up to things that he should own up to, even as bad as he is a lot of times, and causes a lot of that on himself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, this one, like I said, this was an interesting one. I never thought I was gonna see in a in a in a comedy, and again, I've only seen the full season before, and then only like a couple of seasons, a couple of episodes in season two, and that's when I stopped. Uh, and so, like, you know, me watching this, and I'm watching these for the very first time now, like all of these new episodes.
SPEAKER_01So you never got this far before. I never got this far. See, I watched the whole series before, I just um I just don't remember a lot of this because it's been so many. Obviously, it's been so long, yeah. Yeah, it's been seven, eight years, nine years, or whatever it's been since this was out.
SPEAKER_00So and but and and so going through this, like I never thought that they and again, I'm glad they did. Don't get me wrong.
Bat Flips Standards And Baseball Culture
SPEAKER_00I'm glad that they brought this at this this subject up. And because again, you know, like if you really think about it, if we if we were honest with ourselves, like look at a lot of the um the the play-by-play callers right now in Major League Baseball. Yeah, right, older white male that are there, and so like a lot of these things are happening right now. Like uh you see a lot of these owners, right? Like, they're just blankly out there now, like they're just saying the things as like you shouldn't be said without any repercaution whatsoever.
SPEAKER_01Well, and there's not that they are are uh retiring because of racism or whatever, but you uh you seems like there's a lot this year, like two or three, four guys that have been longtime broadcasters that are calling it quits this season. And that's just I don't know if that's just a uh a trend in in in baseball getting younger, maybe, because some of these guys have been doing it. I mean, the guy in Kansas City's been calling games since they started in Kansas City, 69. And this was his last season. I mean, it's like uh, you know, I guess these guys are like, okay, we need to to move on to some younger people or something.
SPEAKER_00And so it was very interesting. And and then, you know, I I want to go back to something that uh the older gentleman in the broadcaster, I forget his name in, and I'm sorry I did I forgot, but like in the in the episode, he was saying, Oh, it was a Hispanic player that that hit a home run. They was like, Oh, he's disrespecting the game. I wouldn't do it that way. Flipping the bat and everything, you know, flipping the bat, he's not playing it the right way. And then it's like it's like what we see now, though, in baseball, right? Like we we see these players flip the bat and all of this stuff, and then put like, but if you see that happening with with a person of color, oh, he is just too flamboyant, he is disrespecting the game, right? Right, but you see that with a a white player, oh, he has passion, right? Yeah, exactly. You know what I mean? And and so like the very same example, but is looked at it from two different prisms, and and people are gonna say one thing or another, right? And listen, I I'm all for you celebrating, whether you're black, white, uh, you know, Hispanic. I don't care, dude. Celebrate. You hit a home run, dude. Celebrate, do what you want.
SPEAKER_01There's some things I don't like that they do, but it's got nothing to do with their their color of the skin. Whether the color of the skin, most of it has to do with their age. I don't care. I don't care what nationality you are, it's just the fact that you're 20-something years old and it's like, come on, man, just act like you've been there.
SPEAKER_00No, you know, that's but it's not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01No, it's not gonna happen because they haven't been there, but it's like you want them to act like they've been there.
SPEAKER_00But but at the same time, as I look at it, it's like, man, they're playing a kid's game right now, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, and and that goes back to uh managers and coaching, and uh you know, a lot of the stuff now is so analytical that these guys don't uh they don't get taught. And we talked about this once before in the minor leagues. You don't have people in the minor leagues quote unquote coaching these guys on how to do things the the right way from a just from a uh a general baseball standpoint, like you know, just learning how to like learning how to bunt, learning how to steal, learning like they're so you're talking about the actual the the mechanics of the game and things like that.
SPEAKER_00They're not gonna be able to do that. You're about to go down a down a rabbit hole here with me for a second in a little timeout.
SPEAKER_01The mechanics of the game, they're not learning at a young age, and so all these kids know are you know going up there with you know with body armor and trying to hit home runs. And it's like, come on, learn to learn to you know play the game here. I got you. Uh, you know, learn learn to drop a bunt down when you need to drop a bunt down and stuff like that. And um so you're whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. So you're your meaning is like all right. Fundamentals of the game is what I'm fundamentals of the game, exactly. Yeah, it I'll I'll give you that. Like, you know, yeah, absolutely, 100%. Like there's some like we watch these base major league baseball games. I'm like, bro, how can you not lay a bunt down?
SPEAKER_01I mean, it drives me nuts when a guy walks and he takes 15 things off, gets to the for the first base, and he puts his oven mitts on and's like, what are you doing, man? Like, what what do you need all this crap for?
SPEAKER_00But but that's the game now, though, right? Yeah, but what it's like they they look at it as protect although uh uh Albies and Ozuna, not Ozuna, um, yeah, Alzuna over in Atlanta, they should be wearing all that. Those guys are injury prone, so like wear as much as possible, dude.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's because they don't understand the fundamentals of the game.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, man. I don't know, man. These kids have been playing since like they were little back in the Dominican Republic in Venezuela.
SPEAKER_01I will say this it is it is because the guys that are throwing are throwing, they're not pitching anymore. So they're just throwing 100 miles an hour and they don't know where it's going. So I get that they need some of that armor to protect them because these pitchers don't have control, uh, you know, like like Maddox and those guys back in the day that could just put a ball where they wanted it to. You know, they nobody hit 100 miles an hour back in the day without knowing where it was going to go, except like Nolan Ryan, maybe. But um, you know, if Nolan Ryan wanted to hit you, he hit you. What's up, Ryan? If he didn't want to hit you, he wouldn't hit you. What's up, Rod? Uh yeah, you know, that's the kind of stuff that bothers me about this generation more than whether it had anything to do with race. But just learn to play some of the fundamental part of the game.
SPEAKER_00But going back to some of the things I've heard, like, I mean, those are the things I've heard before. It's like it was like, oh, he's disrespecting the game by bat flipping, he's disrespecting prime example, uh, Fernando Tatis Jr., right? The dude is he the kid is good, yeah, right? And he flips the bat up in the air and everything, and all of that. And then if you go on on on certain you know channels, they're gonna say that he's disrespecting the game by the way for which he plays. Me, I'm looking at it as like, hey man, you're bringing some flair because obviously baseball needs it and they need the help because uh it's been so stale for so long, right? But on the other, uh on the other, you know, side of that coin, you have someone who is a white player does the same thing, you know, and like I said before, those like, oh, he's playing with passion, right? Right, he is very spirited about you know what he's doing. And so it's it's one of those things that I'm glad that that Brockmeyer called it out because the the the play-by-play caller did say that uh during the game. Yeah, exactly. Right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And and Brockmeyer was pushing, I was like, I I don't know. I think he was just celebrating, right? Yeah, exactly. And then he's hiding behind the the the excuses. It's like, well, I'm an old school guy, like I believe in old school baseball. Right. Right. And so you know, and then he was trying to say it's like uh say it's like, well, uh, you know, Charles was gonna be his producer when he get, you know, when Charles got back up there. It's like, oh no, he's not. Not if I have to do anything with it.
SPEAKER_01Right. Like, dude, you're gonna be out of here, so you shouldn't have anything to do with that. You have nothing, but you know, but you don't.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. So like you're you are you're calling out a a a person of color because he is a person who was like, because he, you know, he's not supposed to know about the game, about producing a show or anything like that. So it's like right, that's not what you do, right? And so I I found it very refreshing for Brock Meyer was like, like, no, no, no, no, let's talk about
The Jinx Moment And Why It Matters
SPEAKER_00this. I don't think no one cares about your your no-hitter going on right now, and no little holds, boom.
SPEAKER_01That was the whole premise of the title of the show, is the the the you know, this the superstition of uh breaking up the no-hitter, but you don't talk about the no-hitter, yeah. And he's like, you know what? I'm gonna talk about the no-hitter, and boom, there it goes. I think he said it he did and also he did it on purpose. He did it on purpose because he didn't want this guy to to go out with a no-hitter after the way he had acted.
SPEAKER_00The way that he acted, the way that he carried himself and the way that he respected his friend, uh Charles was like, No, dude, I'm not giving you this. Exactly. So it was like I said, it was a very good episode. It caught me off guard because I didn't know. Yeah, and when I when you see a broadcaster's jinx, you think about things like that. It's like, hey, these are the things that you just don't do. It just didn't not register in my head that it was, you know, uh something that had to do, you know, about racism.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00And it was listen, uh, kudos again to Brockmeyer and the cast and everything for for doing such a great job with this episode.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, between this episode and the one where his dad died and all of the deepness that that got into, the dark, dark areas that went into. I mean, yeah, dude. It's touched on a few things so far, and I think there's a few more to come in in the in future seasons too that I vaguely remember. But like I said, my memory of things are like, okay, I kind of think I know what's coming. I just don't know when it when it is. I just remember bits and pieces of of uh of uh him doing things, and I'm like, wait a minute, when's that gonna come up?
SPEAKER_00I appreciate you know, and and and I'll drop this, I'll leave this here with that. It's like I appreciated the fact that you know they approached this with such a in such a manner that it was respectful, but yet in a very comedic way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah, and there's I mean, there's that's the thing is sometimes you can you can touch on serious subjects in a in a lighter way to sort of make it stick.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01A little bit.
SPEAKER_00It stuck with me, I can tell you that. Yeah. So uh great
